Best wool around... Lincoln Longwool wool... various uses!
I know there have been a few people interested in a bit of wool, for making bearings and the likes. I can get you some, for the price of postage plus a small fee! Later on in the year I'll have 6 full fleeces if you know anyone that does spinning or other hand crafts, let them know.
PM me if you want some.
Cheers
Mister Occlusion
I'll trade you some poodle fluff
I'll be interested to see how one (ie Reid) turns hair into felt.
how much do you have now? my mother said she could use a little of it.
James
Not that much mate. If she could wait til later in the year she can have a full fleece

well, she said she couldn't use a full fleece because that would be too mucht, but she would be happy with just a little bit.

James, you can make some felt today, in an hour's work.
There are even arty ways of making felt fabric far tougher than what you think about when you think of felt.
You could make a fine wallet from your sheeps' felt, for instance.
I mean, why not?
That's what I want just a sample of your wool scrap for: like the amount that would fit into a padded envelope, that small an amount so I can make a bit of felt just for the having done-so.
Wool has tiny scales upon the hair shafts and these cause the tangling up of the fibers when the fibers are degreased of their natural oils.
I suspect that the Mongolians were sprinkling wood ash from a bucket onto the wool.
Caustic, saponifies the grease, and so the felting process can begin.

That would be great!
I want a flat cap made from Longwool wool

James, post a pic with it on your head like a wig. I want to see if you really are the father.
