Big Arrival at the Water Closet of Steam!!!The mailman came with packages, one was the parts for my Jensen 25 project and then there was an envelope from the UK!
Inside that envelope was
another envelope!
inside that was a plastic tube
What could it be?

Here it is in all of its enormity, the Jenny Wren!
too cool, I cant wait to fire it up, but have a few things to do first. I think I will fire it after I eat my evening meal.
for size comparison, as some have not seen one in person, here it is with my Mamod SE2

Great
Amazing to think this will run like the devil. You-tube has a video and couldn't believe how well it ran!
Got to get one!

I just ran it, sorry, no video, and it took right off, runs like the devil and is almost silent. It is well crafted and a worthy addition to anyones collection.
Hats off to Phil Gravett

With a tube inside an envelope inside an envelope is there another engine inside the engine.
That looks really good John and if you cannot find a space to put it you could always send it to me and I will look after it for you.

John, it looks might good even if mighty small. Phil makes a fine steam engine and I know of nobody who is disappointed in theirs.
Glad it made it in good form.

All kidding aside, do you ever have friends that come by and want to see one of those silly toys you play with in action? The Jenny Wren is the ultimate demonstrator, it takes a bit of fuss to get the water in the boiler, but once it takes off and runs, instant smiles are on peoples faces " Just look at that little thing go!"

John,
I have found the tiny engines really do enchant newbies, as do the big ones. Everything in between not so much unless tethered to a neat accessory.

I dont think it will run a 15 though

Amen.
I love that engine, runs like a whisper, a really fine piece of miniature engineering and an essential component of any great collection.
Great Buy John.
Now you just need the Lilliput and the Beam Engine.

I fill mine with a needled syringe. I have found to my cost that the boiler opening is so tiny it is easy for surface tension to give the illusion the boiler is full. Not a mistake you want to make with something so fragile.

Here is what I have learned so far tonight, Jenny has seen a bit of use tonight
The thing is near impossible to fill with water, the funnel is a thing of beauty, but not that much help in filling it. However amongst various medical supplies left over from my previous illnesses I found a 3cc syringe with the needle on it, I can use it to fill the boiler of the Jenny Wren with ease.
As far as the burner goes, it is fairly important that the burner not be placed clear inside the firebox, the flame seems to die down, but if you pull the burner out so the flame licks partly on the outside of the boiler, it heats up like mad.
Interesting too is the fact that the Ethanol that I use will soot up the boilers on my Mamods and Bowmans, but it does not do so on the Jenny Wren.
I strongly recommend that if you can, get one of these, they are a lot of fun in a little package.
And yes at the time being it is my only Vertical!

That's a very nice addition to your collection John.
Amazed at the size

Thanks, each time I run it, it runs a little better too. I find that the placement of the burner is critical and has to be repositioned about twice during a run. The only complaint is that my fingers are too fat for the Safety Valve, so it can be difficult to unscrew it.
