Bing Saw & Man

I picked this Bing table saw and man up off ebay for just over $12. (I believe that is the make,
can someone help me with the year   )

The only problems were it was very dirty and unfortunately two holes have been added to the base.

This is how it looked on arrival:

I then took it apart:

And began the cleanup. The base has a unique paint job, and here is a marking:

Marking in reverse from underside:

Cleaned parts ready for assembly:

And now the pictures again:

Looks really godd - don't worry about the marks, play-wear makes an engine or accessory more authentic.

I think eith Manx or Mirko would be the best ones for dating.

Cheers     .

I was hoping one of your books would help me out. Thumbs up!

I think this is now my oldest accessory. Les, you still have me beat by almost 30 years.
Nick

So would you guys like to see a video of it running?
Dampfzauberer

yes, please!

I still have to make the video.

I thought I was going to have to make a drive-band to connect the two pulleys, but a 4.5 inch Jensen one fits perfect.

I will be running it with my Jensen 25 to keep it at low-speed.
Atticman

Thats come up really well Nick, and a great price.
Nick

Thanks! The engine is heating up right now.
Nick

I just got done with the run; it did not go as well as I had hoped.

Don't worry too much though, it just needs some fine tuning.

I don't feel like messing with it right now, so I will post the video in a little bit of how it was running.

And while I was at it, I ran another accessory. Get ready for a couple of videos after I get my mess cleaned up.
Nick

Here's the main pulley, with two grooves. One is for hooking it up to the engine and the other leads up to the top pulley for the blade:

The main pulley also makes the man move back and forth.

Well, here is my setup for the run:

And a closeup of the engine and saw:

Time for the video.

As you can see, the wire underneath needs some adjustment to make the man move a little more smooth.

If you look at the back foot, you can see how the rough running was moving the base.

I hope to get it fixed and when I do, I'll update with a new video:

Les

Nice to see it going.
Was it working ok before you took it apart??

No, ran the same. I didn't break it.
johnreid

I think that the wire etc have to be just right for those to function perfectly. But be careful as it should be easier to break than fix.

Atticman

Me too.

It makes my Jensen look small.
Manxman

Great model and an even better price. Those men are quite rare in that condition. He's cleaned up a treat. I'm sure you'll get him going again.

Excellent addition.
