In my opinion this is almost certainly a fraud and I advised my son to disregard the offer.
I would like to hear the member's opinions.
Have any of you experienced something similar?
Phil
Sandman

I've heard of similar.

Definate Scam
MooseMan

That's a scammer, probably Nigerian (seems to be where these things come from). If your son gives in to this, a check for 5000 will arrive. He'll pay this into his bank, at which points the scammers will ask him (and these guys are VERY convincing) to transfer 3000 of it via Western Union....the check will of course bounce, and the transfer will be untracable. Your son will be 3000 poorer.

Don't react, don't reply. Bin the email. It's a variety on the classic 419 scam. General rule: if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

THIS A VERY OLD TRICK.

Look Familiar this was one of six i recieved in the last fortnight after i put our car on autotrader  i binned them all.

Hello,
Thanks for the email and for your prompt response.I am satisfied with the condition of the car and am okay with the cost price and also offer you an additional £100 to secure the deal and also for you to keep the car for me while payment is being process.
I will like to proceed with the sale of the car by sealing the deal with a certified banker's draft or Cheque drawn on a UK Bank and have my representative issue out the payment for the car and its transportation would be added to the amount of the car as i will be using my local haulage company to come and collect the car from your location as they would be collecting some other items for me.I would have love to send the payment for the car alone and get the extra issue out to the haulage company but it takes longer to get UK payment cash elsewhere and would cause delay in transaction as i believe we both don't want any delay in the transaction. All necessary papers and document regarding the shipment of the car will be procure by the haulage company and they will also sign all the DVLA forms in your presence when they come for collection. To explain things further, contact me on...07024019707.To bring to your attention, it takes 1-4 working days for a UK bank draft or Cheque to get clear an account.I would want to know if i can rely on you to get the rest of the funds to the haulage company after the receipt of the payment and its authenticity has been confirmed by your bank and cleared your account before proceeding with the rest of the transaction. To make things easier and quicker,i want you
to supply me the following details so that payment can be issue out immediately:

Your Full name as wanted on the payment::::::::::
Your full postal address(house #,street name,city/town,state and postal code)::::::::::
Your contact phone #s Mobile,Landline::::::::::

Thanks and i will be looking forward to read from you...
        Regards.

Does somebody want to transfer millions of dollars into your account?
Does someone want you pay you to cash cheques and send them the money?
Met a new friend/pen pal on a friendship/dating site who's asking you for money?
Has a dying person contacted you wanting your help to give his money to charity?
Have you sold an item and are asked to accept a payment larger than the item amount?

IT'S A SCAM!
Mamodman123

This happened to James a while back with a book he was trying to sell. They sent him a cheque double the amount of what was agreed.

100% Scam!
Bugsy

It's a pity the police can't/won't do anything about this.
One would think the money would be traceable through Western Union.
My son won't be answering the scammer.
It would be better if he sold the Honda to me, cheap!
They are like Mamods, you can't have too many!!
Thanks very much for all the feedback, fellas!
redryder

Some of these are pure scam and some are part scam and part money laundering which can land you in prison.
Kev&Mel

You will notice that they say the cheque will clear in 3-5 days , it will show as cleared funds in your bank but an international cheque can take up to 6 weeks to clear . When the bank realises that its a forgery they will take it back out of your account but won't give you back the money you have sent to the buyer . Bank error just like the worlds economy . Age old scam - would you send a cheque for 3 or 4 times the asking price of something hoping the seller will send the difference back ?

I have not got a barge pole long enough to touch it with
Les

Keep well clear of that one.

Try this warning:

Pay me too much at your own peril.
I will keep all that you send me and agree to nothing less.
