Bowman launch burner holdersHere are some pics of the holders, unfortunately I couldnt weedle the Seahawk one out without undoing the bolts on the firebox, but I am sure its the same as Swallows which came out OK.
The burners are all held in by a simple but clever piece of wire. in one continuous piece.
The wire is sandwiched between the metal and the stuff that protects the wood from being scorched. It is thin guage but quite firm, so as to keep the burner in place.
I imagine its partly also to keep the burner level and stop meths oozing out while on the high seas.
Incidentally 2 other points of interest, firstly the SV and filler plug have no metal lever on any of the boats- unusual as the other Bowmans Ive seen have the characteristic lever.
Also the burner hole is TINY on all 3 boats, I assume to keep out wind. The hole is just big enough to admit the burner tube.
The wire is about the same length as the burner tube, just a bit shorter
Its a neat fit (this is Seahawks burner)
This shows the unorthodox Bowman plug and you can just make out the tiny burner hole too!
This shows the neat way the end of the wire angles at 90 degrees to hold the burner tight.
As for the wire type/ how to replace it I am not sure- certainly garden type wire is far more flexible than this wire and wouldnt really hold the burner tight enough, but may do in the short term. A stiffer wire is needed really. Looks like ours needs painting, as its a bit rusty
