Bowman Loco

Can anyone help me indentify this loco?    Images are darker that the real thing but the view of the back better shows the actual green on the body

Geared single cylinder Bowman loco

That is the Bowman Model 410, the hardest to find of the Bowman locos. If you dismantle it be aware that the pinion  is screwed on to the shaft.

Murray Wilson
Les Marsh

That didn't take long to identify.
Very nice loco as well.

That is such a nice one too, if it was mine, it would be sitting behind a glass case of some sort.

A standard Bowman 234 without tender in good nick will sell for between £100 and £150. With Tender up to £200, in box up to £250.
Yours would most likely sell for more than that. Look after it but do give it a run now and again.

Thanks guys for the info.

Thrilled to have this Bowman to go with a Weeden Dart (nice but not as sturdy) and a Carette with tender made with cow catcher for American market.

Forgot the little Schoenner (piddler style) and a newer German(forget name) that uses butane.

Will probable sell the german butane model.  Not really "a coin of the realm"

Got any pics of this German loco?

Heilscher
This is stock photo mine has been used and the O rings are missing. Cute but a modern piece.
Carette is better than image shows.  Someday hope to get a more complex Schoenner.

Carette pre 1914

It's a Heisler

I have a loco they make

Never fired mine.  Bought it used and missing O rings and not sure how they go on.  Even picture that I sent seems confusing as to arrangement.
Is this a good runner?
pauly

I've not had any experiance with the traction engine you have there...aulthough i certainly would like one! Mine has the same engine unit 'The Andreas' i beleive and i found that it needs a lot of running in
MooseMan

That is the rarest of all the Bowman locos....if you stuck that on eBay now it would fetch £400 easily, and perhaps a bit more. It looks in superb condition - best I've seen.
bigal

Nice to know.   I  thought I had paid too much, but not the case
Kevin Klein

Nice loco, I'd repaint it and put an electric motor in it......

Just kidding!!!

It is a nice loco, are you going to steam it?
bigal

I hadn't  but now my interest is up so going to do it.   With only one piston I never thought it would be a strong runner.  Will see!
