Bowman M140 full restorationA while ago I started with the restoration of this M140:
It was in quite a sorry state, there was no paint left on the base at all, and the burner didn't have a tube. There also was some nasty solder work:
The engine did hoverer run. Here's another close-up of the engine part:
I stripped the whole engine down to paint everything, and to polish all brass parts. While stripping it down I accidentally broke the steam dome, so I had to resolder that, I also resolderd the pipe onto the boiler so I could cleanup the solder blob around it.
I made a special painting setup for the green parts of the engine frame, here you see it hovering in mid-air
Worked quite good, this way there where no pieces of it touching other surfaces.
The burner needed some work too, it wend from this:
to this:
And the end result, together with the completed engine:
And some more pictures of the final result:

Really great to see a restoration done properly.
The paint finish is lovely, without a blemish being evident.
A lot of time, effort and attention to detail has gone into this, and it shows.
Excellent job, and well done.

Erik, that's fantastic! Well done! They're good runners too... I think I enjoy running mine more than any other engine.

THe pipe ends in the steam dome on top of the boiler. Erik, you really outdid yourself, that is a thing of beauty. You should be so proud.

Erik, if I can make one suggestion.
I think the application of one of Flywheels Bowman decals would finish it off perfectly.
These are the best money can buy, and have been copied from the originals by a real graphics designer. They are printed on water slide material and a doddle to fit.
They can be purchased from our own Mamodman123, and I can vouch for their quality.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will contact him. I once had these decals, but lost them when I moved into my new home (still didn't find them back)
