Boxes NewAfter reading the other post re are boxes preferd,it set me pondering. You can buy reproduction boxes for Hornby Dublo so is it not possible to get a reproduction Mamod box.
Or does it boil down to copyright,I originally thought well do I need a box and some comments stated certain era boxes are flimsy to say the least. Or does any one agree how about a range of boxes desinged for forum members.Pie in the sky or an idea worth thinking about-Si

Once counterfeit boxes hit the marketplace, the originals lose their value as do the fakes. This is why people make such a to do about fake boxes. Much better to take good care of the boxes you have, and to realize that not every item will still be in or with its box.
I would rather pay a premium for an original box that has some tears or wear than to pay almost nothing for a fake in perfect condition.

I understand the comments and still can't make my mind up.Last year I bid on a Hornby-Dublo A4 Golden Fleece (my favourite A4) it was in crcking condition it had a replica box, which I thought DID add that something. As a child of that era, it did it for me.
I didn't win it I wasn't prepared to pay £135.00 for it so for me the jury is still out,as I do like the first colour boxes circa late 60's-Si
