Wow great Job! Wallace needs one I'm sure!

MF,
I'll have a spare 'steaming' valve when you get a moment.
On the same vein, any chance you could knock me up a couple of early SE2/SE3 & SE4 over flow plugs. I've got a 'minter' if you need one to copy ?
Owwww & how about a SE3/SE4 early whistle, as my SE3 one is missing it's top and 'screw' ?
Thanks, you're a engineering genius and I star to say the least.
Darren.

Darren is this the level plug you are after?
if it is, making them will not be a problem but i will have to get some brass hex ordered, it might delay my other project a little bit as well.
i could also make hobbies valves although they would be a little more expensive. any other requests?

How about brass flywheels MF?

can make the soild turned ones, se3/4 but not the spoked ones, i would need a casting for those

Could you possibley do a couple of early 1946 pulleys, please let me know if you can & how much. A spare early 1946, safety valve would be good too.
Rather than trying to draw end caps over dyes is it worth turning them from welch plugs?
Cheers

They are a brass plug. Much like a end cap but thicker, and varying sizes.
They are used in most petrol (and diesel?) engines. They can usually be seen in the sides of the engine blocks. Usually about 4. Without them a engine wouldn't hold water.
Geez, that is actually a hard thing to describe I tried though

You mean an engine 'core plug' ?

Sorry, guys, language difference. There's one available locally that just about fits an SE3, needs a little turning down both inside & out.
1946 safety valve is the same (I think) as the prewar one and the pulley is much smaller than the later one, I'll get a pic & post it up.
Cheers

MF,
Those are deffo the items I'm looking for
So if possible, can I have 3 level plugs + 1 Mamod SE4 safety valve & 1 Hobbies (or if you need to specifically buy the Hobbies specific materials I'll have 2 to make it cost effective).
Thanks again + PM when you need the money etc.

the mamod se4 valve in my engine is the same as a hobbies, do you want an MM2 type valve for your se4?

Some SE4s (like mine) and a couple others I have seen just have a cheese head screw as an overflow plug.

hi spokes
i should think that your "pan head" screw is a replacement. it is much easier to find a 5BA threaded screw than the original fitment hex screw. and afteral if it is only the missing screw that is preventing the engine from running anything that fits will do.

You may well be right!! And yes it is a pan head - always got my cheese mixed up with my pans! I have seen several engines with screws instead of hex bolt plugs though!

MF,
Please ignore my confusion .
Lets start again
Can I have the following please :-
2x SE4 hex safety valves
1x MM2 round safty valves
+
3x SE4 (SE2/SE3) overflow hex plugs
Thanks again.

| Mamodman123 wrote: | | Can you do the whistles or not MF? |
calm down mm, just because i have not answered does not mean i am not doing anything about it. the whistles are not as simple as they seam, they are made up from a number of parts, i think five but i need to throughly clean up my one to see. there is a cap at the top, the handle the main body and possibly to parts inside. it is in hand and as progress is made i will let you know. i have a number of other things to do including your oiler top and Darren's bits and pieces . i will need more brass stock also.
cheers

MF,
Thanks for the update, I'm in no rush for mine, so do them when you can fit them. I'm just happy you're able to make replacements .
Thanks
