Brass tools and MM2A little while back I bought these brass tools
I have all the mamod tools anyway, so thought I would combine them with my brass wheeled MM2 for a display.
I do have a safety valve for the engine, but forgot to put it in for the picture
Small O rings make great washers for protecting the bases from screws.
And yes, this was leftover ply and stain/varnish, from my Jensen 100 base, and I still have plenty left

Wow that really looks the part mate!
So much brass! Bet that weighs quite a bit now! The engine and tools are pretty much as they would have been 60 odd years ago!
Well done Wallace! Great display

Very nice, I'm sure you could fit another tool next to the engine! Just have to find and buy it first

There is a polisher you can get, but the grinder didn't come into the Mamod range until '52

Good thing I had my sunglasses to hand! I have always liked the brass tools. They have so much more character, splendour (no, not the sugar alternative ) and colour than the ones with the plain flywheels. Thanks for posting the pics Wallace

Wow, thanks for the comments everyone.
Just shows, no matter what engine wreck you see, if you like it, buy it.
I bought the Flatbase MM2 minus it's piston, crank, and burner. About 35 pound?
Within a week I bought an absolute wreck of a raised base MM2, but it had the 2 wick burner. Paid about 22pound, got my parts, sold the rest on in oz for a decent sum.
But that's why the engine has the wrong piston rod.
SB, I was thinking of leaving more space for the extra tool of that era, but thought my chances are slim. If I ever get one, I'll make another base

They really look great, lots of lovely brassesssssssssssssss. I still have to get all the brass tools except the hammer and I'll have to find a flat base line shaft somewhere along the line. I like the way you've set them up, it's great.
Cheers

I would buy any rare Mamod even if it was missing a base . As you've done mate, replaced the parts from another wreak

Wow, that looks really good all mounted on a board.
I've only recently acquired a MM2 Brass wheeled flatbase but with the tools all mounted together that really does look good. I can see some new purchases are required now

I like the idea of covering the board with a decorative paper, looks like tile work or something. I will have to do some looking around when I eventually build up one for myself, good idea.

Thanks for the comments.
John I really like your idea. I like the typical bing bases, that look like tile work.
I thought of doing that ages ago, but moreso with a cobblestone effect floor, or even concrete look.

Great idea re the cobbles!!!
