Burnac Vulcan ... revisitedHi everyone,
Some of you may remember my earlier photos of a Burnac Vulcan.
Here is an update with new photos of the Vulcan
Must say a big thank you to Odilon who give the Vulcan a 'good once over' and who expertly re soldered the steam
pipe back onto the boiler. Thanks mate.
Here we go .... hold tight ...
Here is a URL to a video. Sorry but the video is 'horizontal' ... must remember to turn the camera the right way up.
Hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment.

PS: Is there a better way to include videos?

I do like the Burnac, there is something just very neat about vertical engines.
Maybe I'm influenced by the fact I own 5 Australian Vertical engines but I like it.

Well if the British post office get it right I should be the proud owner of this rather nice example in a week or two http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI....sPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=018

well done mate

Wow ... a spit of mine even down to the missing screws. You also get a box plus some other bits and pieces. Not bad price either, bit cheaper then what I paid but in the same ball park. Just wondering if the box includes an instruction manual.

Now that's interesting.
Roc doc's has brass boiler with copper cap and Cranko's is copper boiler with brass cap!
I'd heard many were made from spent WW2 shells bought as surplus after the war.
Congrats to Roc doc and Cranko!

Very nice engines the Bunacs. They are very well built and run superbly. Although, as far as anyone knows, they only made one model there were quite a few variations. There were two different designs of sight glass and a number of copper/brass mixture.
Here is a picture of my one which is all brass;

That's one of the reasons why I like the Burnac. Although it's a simple design it has quite a few variations ... you feel you have something a bit individual. Must give mine a polish.

| Arrived yesterday and no instruction book, I 'm not sure what some of the other parts included are for. I see your's has a nut holding the flywheel on. how much clearance between the flywheel and boiler on yours, mine is too close I think

It's about 1.5 to 2mm (can't measure it exactly) between the very back of the flywheel and the boiler. Looks close in the photos but there is enough clearance for when the flywheel is moving
