Bushes?

This is for future reference/next project, but I'm wondering where one might buy bushes for setting in boilers. Surely all these bushes out there aren't hand made by hobbyists with lathes?

Go to your local hardware store and look through the drawers full of faucet valve seats...

I found standard threaded flanged brass parts at ACE hardware in the faucet repair bins...

Ah hah! Wonderful! Something that can even be found locally, a miracle for me, living way the heck in the middle of nowhere. Thank you!
Les

Model Engineering suppliers such as PM Rearch.

I feel your pain... I live in the boonies as well.  Its an hour+ drive to get to anything, and even then, the Hobby stores around here stink.  You learn to be resourceful...

I live 2 hours away from the nearest large-ish (50,000 people) town. And they don't even have a real hobby store any more. It can be irritating at times, but the payoffs are good too...

who says you need a lathe??
I know I make mine in the lathe but you can use a drill and a file to shape  .A good source are meccano tin wheels and other meccano brassware ( ie common as crap 1 inch pulleys),with a pair of pliers just rip the bush out  it is already drilled and will accept  2BA tap  then  file or hacksaw the piece of the end down to the lateral holes  and then file a bit further to give it a shoulder  !! done.
