c1914 Columbia Grafonola - pics at last!I got this for christmas, and have only just got around to taking pics!
I've never managed to find out anything about this type of gramafone, but I read that the louvre design is c1914 and only lasted a couple of years.

Very Nice James, and here is a little bit of information for you about Wilson Peck.
It must be one of the most famous stores there's ever been in Sheffield.
It was a massive store and used to stand on the corner of Leopold Street and Barkers pool.
The ground floor was full of all these double keyboard Hammond organs and piano's. There was usually an assistant playing one of the latest high tech keyboards.
Upstairs there were various other intruments on sale, guitars, flutes etc.
There was also a large area selling sheet music. You could even purchase sheet music for individual songs.

Cheers mate!
A real kind member is sending me some 78s!

Cool, all of my 78s were stolen when I had my auction, didnt even get the money from selling them.

Bloody hell mate, that's awful!
Next I want a gramafone with a big brass horn, one of them HMV ones. They're damned expensive though!

James...that gramaphone is a beauty.
I can picture it one day playing some old 78's while you relax in your living van by the wood stove. Pure bliss on your face!!!
|
James
|
That's exactly the plan of action!
As soon as she's finished, she's off in the living van!
He's got quite a bit done to it, but can't get that far because we've still got to take the chassis to him, and he's haymaking

That is the table top model of the portable I have.
The louvers are for volume control.
Ironically, you can buy new repoduction models, made on the same machines used at the turn of the century, they come out of India, as I understand it the equipment was never dismantled. You will be really happy when I can get some of those records to you. But first, the box with the good stuff.
And guys, don't ask me, it is up to James as to how much I should say. I only mentioned it at all just to be a nut buster but it is very cool stuff.

Hey Owen you can say whatever you like mate
I can't wait to get them, will spend ages listening to them
Is my model very rare? How much is it worth? Any info on date or company or owt?

James, thats really great, such a stylish piece of memorabilia.
By chance there was a load at a nearby auction recently, and i was very surprised at the low prices they made.
