Christmas came early to the Water Closet of Steam so excited

The Postman rang the doorbell, that usually means that I got something other than bills in the mail.

I am so excited as I think I know what it is

lets look inside

Whatever it is, it is well cushioned
johnreid

I guess I will have to un roll the bubble wrap and cushions in the box and see just what is inside

It is hefty whatever it is
johnreid

I can not believe my good fortune, good forum STWWW friends and the fact that this is actually a part of my collection

A Bowman 300!
and it is nicer than the photos make it look

Compound

Very nice! Great addition to the collection John!
MooseMan

Hurray! Always a relief when things arrive safely!!
Sandman

Glad to hear it arrived safe and sound John.

The time of day and my inability to see if anything is in sharp focus are my excuses for the photos, they will be redone as soon as I am able to see a little better.

and the pairing that would be my dream pair

I have a friend who is to come and visit tomorrow and I will get him to open the garage door for me so I can get to my track. The spring is partially unwound and the door is too heavy for me to lift at the moment, Cant wait till I can see it on the rails in action.

Rarely am I at a loss for words ( many wish I was more often ) but I must say that I am truly touched, I can not put into words how thankful I am, I do mean this, I shed tears in gratitude. You all are the very best.
logoman

nothing wrong with the focus on those pics John
MooseMan

John, I couldn't have wished for a better destination. That little 300 looks great next to his big brother!

You'll love how it runs!
jakesm

johnreid

I am already thinking of how I plan to display my Locos better, I see a winter project coming on.
I am just sitting here looking at it, cant believe my eyes.

still too excited, this was a great day

Good things come to good people....I truly believe that John!

Very nice, John!
The photos were in good focus, no worries.
They look great together, they belong with each other.

Brilliant John

You must be proud of that one, not just the engine but the story behind it too
tmuir

Nice, enjoy it John but don't wear out your eyes looking at it.
Just close your eyes and gently stroke it.
paul_c

Nice one John, they are the best runners out of all the Bowman locos.  You will love it

So pleased John, what a dream, I remember how excited you were with the other one you bought at STIA.

Great stuff all those involved!

The 300 is my favourite of all the Bowman locos. Nice proportions and great little runners.
tinkttt

your words of exitement and needing a friend to open your garage door has just had me shed a teer, lovely story and engines
johnreid

A friend came by and tightened the spring for me, I can now open the door.

I am not totally helpless but after surgery I am restricted to lifting no more than 20 pounds for 5 months. After that I will do fine.

The 300 runs like a champ, I need to solder the stanchions for the handrails ( the brass wires that run along the side of the boiler ) but aside from that no more work needs to be done to it. I prefer this one to not be perfect paint wise as I will not be afraid to run it.

I love my Mamod Locos, but the two Bowmans are much more fun, the go forever and have a lot of charm that a newer Loco lacks.
Dr. Rog

Its certainly a cute and nicely proportioned engine.

Does it pull?
johnreid

I am sure it does, but I have no rolling stock that is to scale, I guess I could have it pull Mamod Cars but they look so big in relation to it,

In the not too distant future I plan on either getting some Lionel passenger coaches or building some fake Bowman coaches. I think the more modern Lionel coaches would be more to scale, they are much bigger than the old pre war tintype coaches.
Dr. Rog

One or two small coaches would make a suitable train.
