Chust sublime! Looks like she needs a good dust but all else is well I've one in a similar state of disrepair but has had a coating of some sicky oil all over it. It's another one of "my projects for the future"! It's a wee boat, i've wondered what the most suitable engine for it might be. I look forward to the progress!

I would start by removing all the loose parts, give it a good clean and then see what you have to work with.

Time to find someone with an aircompressor to blow that dust off.
It looks like more than 15 years of dust there.
But will look good once done.

Clyde Puffer (Calder Craft) Northern Light
I need replacement parts mainly the boom and quiet a lot of white metal parts.
The problem I have will be identifying the lost / damaged parts as the instruction manual is missing.
Does any body have a copy of the instruction manual to help me identify all the parts?

Jokita Ltd manufacture the Caldercraft range of models, so I would try asking them first for a copy of the plans, etc. - http://www.jotika-ltd.com/
The name Maggie is of course from the famous 1954 Ealing Comedy classic film - The Maggie, one of my all time favourites. So I assume your boat has Maggie Glasgow on its stern.
Looks like you have got a lot of work to do, and that includes putting the bridge structure on the right way (it has been fitted backwards for some reason).
Not sure if this boat is suitable for a steam engine as it is rather small. Most owners fit a smoke generator instead.
Clyde Puffers are one of my favourite boats. I have a highly detailed Mountfleet Highlander kit which I bought from a professional model boat builder, and hope to fit a Cheddar Models engine to it one day. I've also had 2 great holidays on the V.I.C. 32 which is still steam powered and allows you plenty of hands on if you so wish - www.savethepuffer.co.uk

Its Uist I think- its one of the Scottish Isles

Thats a nice boat, at least it cant be said that someones messed it up recently

I hope you can post some pictures once it is cleaned up, that looks to be a wonderful boat. I think the members of the forum are obtaining the nicest boats. First class boats for first class people.

Interesting, Uist is a rather strange name to put on this boat as it is neither a port (the usual practice) or a place - the Uists Islands are called North Uist & South Uist, there is no Uist Island.
Looks like you will have a busy time getting this boat back into shape.
In the meantime here's some photo's of my Puffer to give you some inspiration.

No, as I stated in an earlier posting, this model boat is a Mountfleet Highlander, see here - http://www.mountfleetmodels.co.uk/highlander.htm
And taken from the PS Waverley on 02/05/08, en-route from Glasgow to Oban, here is VIC 32 rounding the south of Bute -

So what kind of fuel does a real "Puffer" use..? Oil, coal?

Coal.
|

VIC 32 is quite obviously coal fired, and indeed is the last surviving coal fired steam powered puffer.
Others can be oil fired, or replaced with diesel engines.

I had to go back to the beginning to remind myself what this originally looked like.
That has come up really well and is now looking like a Puffer again. Well Done.
Any luck getting the missing parts from Caldercraft?
