Hello all, as a teacher with a family we have only over the last few months found this great hobby of miniature steam.
One of the pupils at the school approached me telling me all about a site he had found on the internet, following this up with talking to Adam he came to our school and entertained us all for most of the morning with his collection of Mamods. He would not take any payment for this, we even tried to hand a cheque to his wife on the side but she told us that his reward was the children’s faces when he shows them running.
Following that my son wanted a engine so who better to ask than Adam, after a long talk we all concluded that a se3 was the right engine for us, he would not sell us one but told us where to find a cheep one.
The next day he came to our house and replaced washers o-rings etc oiled it up and gave David my son a short lesson on the do’s and don’ts .
By the way Adam lives 35 miles away
I found this website from a link on his site and can see that he posts on here, I know that this will embarrass him but finding someone with the enthusiasm and dedication that he brings to the steaming communities is a rear thing.

Hi CMS, welcome to the forums.
yosa

Speaking for myself, I'm not surprised at all. The help you have received is typical of the generosity of spirit that I have encountered ever since joining this great forum.

Nice one Adam.
Sandman

It's really nice to see Adam getting the praise he deserves for the outstanding work he does promoting our hobby.

He will be embarrassed over this accolade because that is the unassuming person he is.

Well done to both Adam and Vanessa who helps to make it possible.

CMS, welcome to our forum. We hope you will enjoy it. (Once you get infected with the steam bug collections start to grow.)
Steve_S

Welcome to the forum! This is indeed a great hobby... and you don't need any batteries!

Honestly Adam, you truly are a great bloke and what your doing for the Mamod name is better than anything myself or anyone else could do. You give up your weekends to go to the many rallies in your area to show off your collection to those who may never have heard of a Mamod, and have probably introduced many people into such a fascinating hobby. Your efforts go unnoticed and do not get the praise you truly deserve. I owe you a few pints

HMMM CMS for a teacher your spelling is appauling!

"cheep"
"rear" instead of rare

Same mistakes ive seen on Adams site aswell..........
James

just what i was thinking.

what kind of school do you teach at?

and what does CMS stand for?

why havent you been back online?

James

Already have done that one James, CNS I.P address matches BT with Adam Newell, meaning they are both the same person.

Can't understand why someone would make all this up, just to get credit for work that has never been done. It's low, and making fake accounts is not acceptable on these forums!
James

just checked too.

i find that very low indeed. quite sickening. what is the point adam?

nowt to do with me, may be its the link from my site like all the visits from here to my site all have james ip number. say what you want as i said nowt to do with me ,as for the school etc thats all true take it or leave it
newellsmamods

reading it all again it made me very pissed off on what you are all saying so bye all
James

explain on your guestbook then. nobody signed it for ages and ages, since july. all of a sudden, mass posts have appeared. and the funny thing is, each post is within minutes of the last.

and the press cuttings thing, it is all badly spelt (which a paper or magazine would never publish) and they are magazines most of us if not all of us have never heard of before!!

on the colouring page, there is a kid who is 3, that can colour remarkably well for a 3 year old, and a kid in spain too!

if the kid in spain etc is real, can i have their email addresses please so i can tell them about the forum?

sorry for moaning but i, and others have been wanting to say this for a long time now.

something very fishy happening, not the real deal.

oh yah and how does your site get 30,000 hits when the forum is a ghost town, the guestbook is unsigned by anyone other than yourself, and most of it isnt about mamods!! like mm, and mike, there sites are a treasure trove of steam info, but theirs doesnt have a fraction of the hits yours does.

james
James

please explain adam, i might have got it all wrong.
newellsmamods

V Ok here’s what happened even Adam never new about it the first post was written out by me copied from a e-mail. I feel that your attacks on Adam in this thread are totally malicious . Anyone who has meet him or asked anything of him has found him reliable and honest . As for the site I feel that jealousy must be your problem ,.All posts are removed and reposted each day to remove bad language ect
You have lost the a very dedicated member who at any time promoted your site . Adam or I will no longer post .

Jealously? is that what you call it? jealous of what exactly? the fact that i dont go on my own site and make the hits number higher? the fact i make up people? i think not.

Lets cool off chaps . . . .

I used to live half hour drive away, now its best part of 275 miles! I knew there had to be a downside to moving to Cornwall. Truth is havn't made my mind up yet.

Hope you make it John. I've got a fair trek as well ,from Ayrshire, but I think it will be worth it. I still owe you a pint anyway, so you can always collect it on the day.

The train journey was a special steam hauled special from London Bridge to Faversham, home of Spitfire, O the return journey, I had my head out of the window as there was little coal coming out of the engine, the occupants of the train were emptying their glasses out of the window, so I had several facefuls of beer!
