complete novice and newbie

hello
I'm a complete novice- with a simple question....
I'm planning on building a Koi Carp Pond in my back garden- it going to be roughly 8-10ft in width and possible the same in length
and approx 3ft+ deep....I havent decided fully if its just going t be Carp or mixed fish?? but the question is???
would I be able to use this as a place to have a steam boat or would it kill the fish ??
Bugsy

I think the fish will love it.
Just avoid spilling too much oil and fuel into the water.
Welcome to the forum, BTW!

Can't see why not, as long as the boat is fitted with an oil trap, pretty much a must these days anyway....

Having a few pop pop boats to scuttle across the pond might be fun!!!
CuriousSteam

If I can I'd make one in my yard also. Like Moose said make an oil trap and there will be no issue at all.  Very fun too!!!
Jay_Minor

perhaps you could even put a little man in the boat with a fishing rod in his hand
logoman

a bit small for a steam boat isn't it!

if your boat is 3 foot long it doesn't leave much room to manouver.

Probably drive the fish crazy

I dont see why a small steam boat, possibly tetherd to the center to make a big cirlce would not work in a little pond thats 10ft diameter.
Les

A Fantail Launch would sail it there quite happily.

Perfect!

I've had small steam boats going in a none-too-big paddling pool.

Just don't shine the props too much, shinny props attract the fish the same as a fishing lure.

Yes, the Midwest Fantail or the Elliot Bay steam launch would probably work in a 10' diameter pond.  Neither, however, have separation tanks.

Perhaps a plastic tube could be linked from the exhaust pipe to an on board tray to prevent water pollution.  Since neither have displacement lubricators, however, the environmental effects may be not be that significant.

Pop Pop boats would definitely work a charm.

But how are you planning to sail them under your Loco bridge?

May come down to a choice here.
diamondlady

is there a small steam boat?

like the idea of man fishing - but now I need to know the make and model of a small steam boat? maybe 1ft long...would deffintely like a 3ft model maybe even a paddle steamer but don't know where I'd sail them....DL
