If you have been following Alan's posting 'I just bought an IP Engineering Jane!', he gave us a link to the mounting bracket for fitting these headboards to your Mamod chimney - http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/5633/bracketmg7.jpg
I look forward to getting my name plates as Alan has managed to get a font to work well with my special theme for naming my locos. I'm also eager to get steaming that great Forum headboard around on my locos as well.

Maximum Size my machine will do is 305 x 210mm! Pricing for the nameplates is based on an average 16mm loco nameplate, approx 35mm x 8mm. I can quote for larger plates and custom work too!

Thanks for that, I do not need any that big but I definitely have a couple of boats that need nameplates.

£15.00 GBP
Works out as:
$28.98 USD
using PayPals exchange rate calculator of :1 GBP = 1.93202 USD
I've got a TE1a, I'll have to have a look at how it'd look!

Iv just got mine and it is giving me real trouble the nuts that hold the headboard on are 2 small for me to get a hold on even with needle noses and I keep losing them also even though the holding bracket is as tight as it will go it is still lose on the chimney
|

I'm sure alan2525 will explain what size the nuts are, as all I've got on my order is BA nuts. You need a very small BA spanner, but what size is it?
Try putting some masking tape or similar on the inside of the bracket to get a bit of a friction fit. I've just checked and my IP Eng cast chimney on the IP Jane is 33/64" diameter (same as yours), and an old style Mamod chimney is 34/64" (same as alan2525's).
Just waiting for my Head Board and some very special themed name plates.

The nuts on the headboard are 14BA. I use a pair of locking tweezers to tighten them. I didn't want to assemble them prior to posting as I was worried royal mail would flatten the part in transit!
Regarding the bracket it's designed to fit the standard Mamod chimney. If it's a little lose on your IP Jane, you can use a shim, a strip cut from a drinks can or somesuch.

So the Mark 2 head board bracket will be compatible with a larger range of locos, instead of just the old style Mamod or MSS replacement.

finally managed to fit it

I think it'd look better if you could put a piece of shim around the chimney and get the bracket down nearer the smokebox.

Looks great pauly.
Just waiting for mine to arrive, but not sure which loco should get pride of place? I guess it should really be a Mamod.

I am going to have to start saving, In the near future I am going to need four pairs of nameplates + at least one if not two headboards! I just have not quite made my mind up on all the names and what I want on the headboards yet...

I had an enquiry for a brass plate for a Traction Engine...
...I've drawn up these designs, they are designed to fit a Mamod TE1 smokebox door, will also be making to fit Wilesco engines. Choice of Burrell or Fowler, more designs to follow!
