D 3 questionDo the sight glasses unscrew or are they fixed where they will not come out? The reason I ask is they need to be cleaned so this old half blind man can see in them.
Thanks

looking at mine logic would suggest screwed on
but considering cheap bottom of the line who knows.
Maybe vinegar in boiler might help

I would email Wilesco but I am lucky if they answer 1 out of 5 emails. One of the reasons I do not buy more new Wilesco. Vinegar works great on the boiler but not as well on the glass but I might give it a try.
Thanks

Wouldn`t bother since there ½ of the time at least on my D3 sits a little airbubble in one or both of the tiny sightglasses anyway so i just use a syringe to fill it up to max level before each Esbit-run.
I have put a little nailpolish on the needle of the syringe to tell when its at max waterlevel, and then just fill in and suck back out til it grabs air... Voila
If i were to use an unoriginal meth or gasburner i`d just check how much water needed to refill the boiler after 10 mins. and calculate a safe max runtime that way.

try flushing it with a solution of Vinegar and water and see if that helps, it sure can not do any harm. If I recall those are difficult to keep from leaking once you take it apart

They are simple caps (with inner thread) that are screwed onto studs (wich are soldered into the boiler)
So unscrewing them and gleaning the glass is no problem at all.
The most simple to remove water gauge i know, as you do not even need tools.

I put 30 ml of water in mine and draw off some with the syringe1 esbit no problem with running out of water I have never been able to see through the sight glass and I have only fired this engine a few times The sight glass is not large enough to see the waterline

We run my grandsons on gas like I do with all my fuel engines. Thanks all for your input and help.
