D32

Well, after paying taxes, the illusion of being able to afford having a thing like this engine sitting in my garage has abruptly come to an end.

Here she is:

Lets hope she finds a good home....

Best wishes,

Peter
Nick

Wow!

I hope it stays in the forum.

I hope so too... maybe MrOclussion, he needs more power to drive his steppers up there in canada.
mogogear

I have never seen one in a comparison photo---WOW
Les Marsh

Good luck.

Wow indeed.

+1 for hoping it stays in the forum too.

I take it postage to the UK is going to be steep?

That Tax Man should be punished, anyone got a rope?
I hope that you get a good return on your investment, it is a shame that you need to part with it though.
IndianaRog

Sorry to hear Peter...got hung out to dry a couple of times myself and even had to sell my car once to pay the damn tax due on April 15th.

no but Iv got a car will that do

and what a beautiful engine Id flee the country before giving that baby up
psantama

It does make me sad as I really like the engine, but had a reality check recently and that is the way things are.

simply put: It is a luxury item that I cant afford.  No different than an expensive watch that i would not even consider buying.

I have a D24 that I like and she will drive my steppers just right, and will be happy to take the place of this engine in my little experiments and demonstrations.

Whoever gets it will find a great engine. Quite rare because of its age.  You see d32's on EBAY, but I have seen none this old yet...

Thanks for the support and happy bidding!

have not bothered even checking considering how expesive shipping my generators turns out to be to any country around the world.

I can check for you and charge only actual shipping, but remember she does run on 110 volts.

... I understand, Peter. A few years back, I had to part with my O-Gauge tin trains: Märklin, Bing ... broke my heart. But money was dear, so the trains had to go.
Oh, well. You've got the D24 still! So've I - an electric one. Darn good machine, mate!
Good luck for your auction, and may she go away with a BANG! , meaning a good farewell in cash for you.

Thanks everyone...

if any of you visits the youtube video for this engine, I would appreciate some positive comments regarding your opinion about this engine or your dealings with me in the past.

i think this will help buyers get an additional sense of confidence when bidding on such a potentially expensive item...

Hi Peter.  Lyle Knox here; I sent you a couple messages through evil-Bay earlier.  Sorry to hear you're having to sell this great piece.  I'm definitely watching and will have my Euro version up if I get this one.  I really don't want to have to spend another couple bills to buy a step-up transformer just to steam mine, so this is a great alternative...if I can afford it.    I'd still appreciate a PM about the reserve, unless you'd really rather not share; just let me know.

Take care,
Lyle
psantama

You guys already almost hit the reserve... it is conservatively placed at 850 dollars

Man, I just =gotta= figure how I can finesse this one.

Lyle
Mister Occlusion

Yay~ I'm in front

Don't know if I can go to the end with it or not.  We'll see (not got my own tax info back yet).
psantama

Good job mark! The oclussion labs need a new engine. I wish you luck, maybe she  will end up in canada!

... best wishes to both gentlemen who are goin' for the Great Lady D32!
What a machine ...

It hit the $1000 mark last night! I am so happy! The auction ends tonight! I hope some heavy hitters come in at the end, but even if they dont, I am satisfied with the current price!
Nick

Thought I'd bring this forward for anyone to watch some last-minute bidding.

It's got 20 minutes and at $1115!

5 days.. no payment... no contact.... starting to worry me..... after all the effort put into the auction, could it have been spoiled by someone that doesnt pay?
Stilldrillin

Have you tried to contact them??
johnreid

Wonder how far away the buyer is from you. If a Money Order is being sent from a distance, 5 days isnt out of line ( why I LOVE Paypal ) figure a day or two to get to the PO or Bank to buy the Money Order and then the speedy Postal System is to blame some too. However I think that an email would sure make on feel a lot better. Lets hope it is not a non payer.
psantama

I will call him today, got information from EBAY. IO didnt even know I could get his home contact information until today. Lets see what happens, lets keep an open mind. Maybe he was just away, or waiting for lil-Bush's economic bribery check. lol
johnreid

I know a few people that have bid on Ebay items waiting for their check from George. I for one am not counting on something like that till I see it in my back. Only once have I bod for something when I did not already have the cash to pay for it, an that time I contacted the seller first. Come to think of it, that engine should arrive today, paid for of course.

I don't know, but I pay for nearly all my E Bay purchases within minutes of the auction ending.

This doesn't sound good.
psantama

All ok. Money in paypal. Wonderful outcome. Life is good!  Well at least I will pay the taxman.... lol
mogogear

Yeaaa!!! Good for you!!

YIKES Penalties and Interest will kill you
I can tell you horror stories

Slow Payers are better than No payers, but if you are like me, I sell only because I am need of the cash. Waiting just makes parting with a favorite toy even worse.

So glad it worked out.
Stilldrillin

That`s better!
Les Marsh

Thumbs up! Well done.
Wilescoman_123

WELL DONE !!!!
MooseMan

Good news! Getting a message from eBay that someone's requested contact details can work miracles sometimes.
psantama

Shipped it today,... lets hope it survives unscathed the trip across the US to California.
