Last day off - so had a short 25 miler along the old Plym Valley Railway line - from Plymouth (Marsh Mills - Yelverton, old GWR branch closed in the mid 60s).

Shaugh Bridge Halt

Shaugh Bridge

Bike on banks of River Meavy/Dart

My faithfull 1970 Carlton Corsa . . .

Glorious Devon.

Looks nice Mike I like to walk/cycle old railway lines, the nearest one being the Chichester-Midhurst line, much of the original trackbed is still there, including some of the major infrastructure such as tunnels and bridges. I'll have to do it again in the summer and take some pics
tmuir

I do miss the country side like that.
Here in OZ at the moment its all dry and dust or burnt out.

I like the sun Tony - but you guys must be sick of it sometimes!

Dartmoor is 'fresh' today, sun but still some wind and definately coller in the shade!

MTA - you should get some pics! The Plymn Valley still has tunnels and viaducts, as well as overgrown sandbins and cuttings.

Such a difference from around here Mike Fantastic pictures

It's all built up around here, with the odd park here and there.

I feel claustrophobic if I cant see the sea!
SPOKESMAN

THATS BETTER.

Plymouth Sound this afternoon.

You can smell the sea air . . . .

Just bigger!

Aye, is there a pier?
SPOKESMAN

Many years ago MM, the Luftwaffa(?) redsigned it . . .

It was demolished in 1952.

That pic only shows a small portion of the sea front - it curves around for about 1-1.5mile.

I went to Plymouth once, didn't get any further than the station owing to the fact our railtour was late

shame they demolished it, although a lot of them are in a right state. Torquays pier was in the middle of restoration last time i went in October 2006

The Hoe promenade.

Buildings on the right are those of Elliot Terrace. The one with the scaffolding on is the Lord Mayors Official residence. Been there a few times once to photograph some paintings and also to have tea with the LM.

I meet with the Mayor of Chichester regularly at the CDSME. I taught him how to drive a coal fired steam engine and I let the Mayoress loose on my Wilesco Locomobile

There's stuff like this all over Plymouth - well anywhere with a sea view.

Short stories read out during the program, in the style of the janet & john learn to read books (from some of our childhoods )

Full of double entedres & childish humour.

And in a couple of months time it’ll be like tmuir’s OZ down here - too hot, dry, dusty & worrying about water running out & the next forest fire Will also be too hot to steam engines
