Day out in a casting foundryHi steamers,
I had the opportunity to look around a steel casting foundry the other week and thought I’d post a couple of pictures.
Most of the pictures inside the plant were under exposed as it was quite dark and gloomy with the occasional big flash of molten steel brightening up the place.
Some scrap steel being smelted.
Some freshly poured castings in moulds.
The scrap heap, one of my favorite childhood places to hang out.
Some parts I commissioned for my new steam engine project.
Lunch on the river afterwards.
Cheers Mick

That looked to be a very interesting time you had at the foundry.

That brings back memories.
Also interesting to see all the valve castings. That's what our firm used to make.
Sadly, all gone now.
