Differences in size of overflow plugs for Renown engineshi ,
Tony Muir recently made me a repro plug(with 2 bits out the size)
but unfortunately its too small. the plug on right is correct size for my engine.

It looks like Clintons OF plug is 3/16 but its hard to say could be 1/4.
Certainly never came across an engine before with anything other than 1/8 BSW thread for the overflow plug.
I'm guessing it was changed in the past by someone who lost the original but as the history of Renowns is a bit sketchy just because this is the only one we've seen doesn't mean its not original although I can't see a reason why they would make it a different size.
Either way I'm getting Clinton to send the plug back to me and I'm refunding his money, no point him having something he can't use.

Are you making a new one with threads that match Clinton's?
You could have him send the correct size one back with the one you made, and make a new one.
By the looks of it, when screwed in, it wouldn't even be noticeable.

I don't know what size Clinton's is I'm only guessing by the photo and without knowing the correct size I can't make it.
I also don't have a 3/16 die (If it is that size) which would cost me more than the price of the part.
The only way I could guarantee to get it right would be for Clinton to send me the engine and at about $18 postage each way and if I need to buy a die especially to make it for him I would have to add that to the cost all of a sudden its gotten very expensive for him so I doubt he would be interested in that.
