Displacement oiler questionWhat does the collective wisdom here say about the proper level to fill a oiler to?
1. To just below the pipe inside and weep hole
or
2. It is Ok to fill to the top and cover the weep hole?
I am ironing out small details that seem to be still cuasing me some intital heavy oil discharge when warming up
all input welcomed!!

Hi Greg,
I tend to fill mine to the top....may give an initial bit of extra oil, but that's no bad thing.

I fill mine right up as well. Oil's cheap.
OK, cheaper than new engine parts at least.

I fill it to the top to make sure it has plenty of oil at startup.

Well, no wishy-washy answers there..
Thanks All..
I had been filling all the way. And when I first opened the throttle, I was getting a slug of oil and water out the exhaust...It concerned me so I thought I would at least ask in case I was doing something wrong...

if you don't fill it to the top it wont work Mo.
I always get the horrible oils and water exhaust on start, but that's it just doing it's job.

I fill mine to the top too.
Maybe I should buy separation tanks for my larger stationaries. The little drip trays are rather unsightly.
