DLR's collectionI have been into steam for some time but most of this has appereared ove the past three years. All descriptions are from left to right.
first my locos. the first loco is a MSS side tank and has worked flawlessly for two years. Next is a green SL1, not sure how old it is. Then a roundhouse Bertie. Very impressed with this little loco has proved capable of anything i can throw at it. finaly is a rare Finescale peckett. This loco can run for up to 45 mins but is experiecing technical difficultys at present.

At the back is my mamod TE1a steam crane which works very well. At the front is the much modified wilesco, still going strong. Out of veiwq on the right is another TE1a which is for sale and last is a SW1 ought at christmas and is being run in.

What was it like when it blew up?
Les
How did you get it to blow up??
DLR
the boiler end plate had rusted so when it was fired up the presure just blew a hole in it and short of a new boiler i would say it couldn't be fixed
Nick
Just make a new end cap and solder it on.

Don't think so John unless there is something i'm missing

I thought they were brass!!

Must have been dezinkification then, I saw the word rust and that is what caused me to be puzzled. I would think it could be patched then, not a total loss.

More than likely, brass can go like that if you leave water in boilers for long enough
These aren't exactly thick brass either!
DLR

it had no water in it for thirty years and it is brass but i cant spell dezinfinication any way this is how it looks
Nick
How thick is the boiler?

I would think that could be patched, the patch might not be beautiful, but still useful.

Patch it on the inside if possible.

What happened when it blew? Did steam shoot out, or was it just a leak?
DLR
IT was a jet of steam which made it shoot backwards, got really fun for a minute
Nick
Did it get you at all?

Then less fun when the steam cleared and you had a hole in your boiler right?
DLR
No which is a good thing Did put me off steaming the others for a while though

I do not know why, but of the SEL engines I see, the Junior kind of fascinates me. I hope you can either fix it or find someone who can fix it for you.

Oh a fine set of engines and loads of fun. Not the biggest collection but full of character and all look loved and looked after.

I agree, with Manx. Very nice and very well looked after.
