Dont laugh now......

Just secured this rare sutcliffe 16" cruiser dates to the 1920's, looks horrid at the moment but is all there including burner.  Very hard to find and very collectable item this.

It's only the paint thats ugly and thats easy fixed.
I've never seen one of these so will look forward to the photos.

I have seen pictures of them somewhere, Buzzes Boatyard? Do you have an oil can to go with it?
IMHO those have an old timey charm, real cool.

John, there is a sutcliffe history on buzzes site, but no pictures of the 16" steam launch.  Heres a phot of a nice boxed one sold at auction for well over £1000 about 9 years ago

Best of luck in doing whatever you decide to do, I see all kinds of potential there.

It will probably have to be stripped. I am not a fan of restoration at all, but in this case i will have to make an exception.!!!
CuriousSteam

Thats different, nice buy
logoman

I was watching that - no intention to buy - just admiring - well done.

I too prefer original but not rust or ugly repaints so a full restoration is definitely in order

Another score there Sandy, and from the state adjacent to Indiana, OHIO!  It's good it will be repatriated to the UK.  If that nice example you show sold for 1000 pounds nearly 10 years ago, you got an absolute steel.  Flaws appear to just be cosmetic, easy to do over and make right.

Congrats!  You've had a good week!

Yeah Rog,  Good week for me ,bad week for My credit card

Great buy Sandy. I'm sure you're right... in this case restoration is the way. It'll be a cracker!
Les

Lovely looking boat which will look great with a re-paint.
