Double Bill - Wells TE and a Mamod 1962/3 SR1 N&BJust arrived home from a 6 day sales trip to Norway and a lovely sight greeted me, Two packages no less had arrived while I was away. 
I opened them up and they were my newest accusations - A Wells Traction Engine from New Zealand thanks to Stitch (seller says it was built at the Addington (Railway) Workshops in New Zealand.
And a Mamod 1962/3 N&B SR1 in pristine nick, complete with bass burner, red steering rod and box with all original bits. 
I immediately steamed the Wells (see vid) what a lovely engine, I will clean them both up tomorrow and post new picks over the weekend.

Wow Steve, you have a knack for finding some beautiful engines. The Mamod is gorgeous in and of itself, but the Wells has a certain Abrams tank demeanor I really like...seems to have no hesitation when fired up.
Great stuff.

Cool, at first I thought the wells was a messed up Mamod. I usually look at the pics first to undertand what I'm looking at.

That's great Steve and I pleased to have been able to help. The Wells looks good beside the mamod and mamod is one of the nicest that i have seen in a long time.

To be honest, I thought the same until somebody pointed out to me that it was a Wells.

I was looking at that Wells as its very well made and was contemplating a bid, glad we didn't end up in a bidding war for it.
Now you need to find a Wells book.
They are uncommon but do come up from time to time.
I usually once or twice a week do a search for uncommon books I already have and should I find another Wells book will let the forum know.

A great pair of engines and the Wells is real nice. I like the fact that it seems to have so many original pieces still on it. So many of these now have Mamod parts to keep them going.
Tony's right. The book would be good but very hard to find in the UK. I hunted for years until Tony managed to start turning them up with his internet skills.

Rog you are spot on with the Abram’s tank analogy. I started cleaning it this morning and it’s a real beast.
So I swapped over to the more simple and familiar Mamod SR1, which I easily cleaned in an hour. (Picks tomorrow)
Will give the Wells another go tomorrow, but I will need a big breakfast to build up my energy first.
