I have a personal connection with 'Birch Grove' as I was invited as a guest to its inauguration into service after overhaul I even unveiled the name on the tanks (I was quite young, so it looked better!).
P.S. Jim, we get the bloody point! We know you like the GWR, now can it!

The unload engines like that on the GCR - they dont have a main line connection the National network - so everything comes on the back of a flatbed, ie Merchant Navys, Black 5s, Prairies . . . .

If this were to be done again in the future when the Bluebell connects up to the national network at East Grinstead, maybe we will see loco exchanges from line to line! That would be a sight to behold, an E4 on the main line! Although the Blubell has said it probably won't sertify it's engines to go main line, I'd certainly like to see U No. 1638 on the main line!

Fascinating to see, and they made a nice job of it as well.
There's obviously no wriggle room when it comes to lining up the tracks, so how long does it take to line up the low loader in the first place?

I think sometimes they detach the trailer from the actual vehicle, as it makes it easier to move (despite the fact it has a 10 ton engine on top!).
