Ebay feedbacks increased.

When I checked my 'My eBay' this morning I found that my feedback rating had jumped by about 20% - from just over 130 to  158 without any extra buys/sells. Looks like eBay s crediting buyers with postives from sellers who never bothererd to leave feedback or now counting multiple deals with the same seller as seperate .  Looks like the latter, as in checking my feedback I can't see any additional comments.

Has this hppened to any one else

Cheers

Chris
Nick

Still the same here. I'll have to check again in a few hours.
tmuir

Just checked mine and it hasn't changed and I have both multiple buys from same seller and buyers who have never left me any feedback.
Les Marsh

I have just checked mine and it hasn't changed even though I am still waiting feedback from an Australian seller.
Stilldrillin

Mine hasn`t changed either, though I am owed by many sellers......
mc_mc

I have myself deliberately not left feedback in some cases where I was a bit unhappy with a purchase but feared getting a retaliatory negative comment left in response.    I've had this happen to me where I left a justified neutral comment and so the guy left me a negative out of spite.
Atticman

No, mines not gone up Chris, and likewise have had a few multiple purchases over the years (been on ebay sine 2001 )
Brandt

Mine went up from 111 to 126  as well as my wife's account. She thinks it is from the multi seller/buyer .

New rules have come in on Monday, one is that Sellers cant leave negative feedback on buyers. Bit strange.
johnreid

THey are now allowing multiple feedbacks from the same buyer or seller so if you had two feedbacks from one person in the past it only counted as one, now it is two. Oddly, mine did not change, I have several repeat customers.
Les Marsh

I wonder if they are doing it in alphabetical order?
tmuir

I opened my account in 1999 and originally in the UK so even though mine has a home address now in OZ may still be considered a UK account which could be why mine hasn't changed and some OZ ones have.
paul_c

Mine has blown out big time from 410 to 660

Just found this at the bottom of the My Ebay page, there is an announcment, open it and this is one part -

Members have been able to receive credit for weekly repeat Feedback (going back to 1996) since March.
The Positive Feedback Percentage will be based on the past 12 months of activity (and include neutral Feedback in the calculation).
Nick

I was wondering why neutral feedback didn't effect the percentage score in the past.

I had 1 neutral, but it still said 100% positive. I am glad that was over a year ago, so I will still have 100% positive.
johnreid

Neutral still doesnt change the percentage,it just doesnt increase or decrease the percent positive.

Finally got an email from eBay this morning, amongst other items, somewhere down near the bottom of the page, it said that buying from the same seller more than once counts now as an individual buy.  They are back counting for a 12 month period.

John, it looksl ike it only applies to buyers not sellers, maybe that's why your feedback hasn't increased for buyers who have bought off you on more than one occassion,     .

I e-mailed the Aus seller and I now have my feedback.
Wallace

Mine jumped from 210 to 243
johnreid

The added feedback comes from the past 12 months only
Stilldrillin

Just remembered.......

I bought a drill chuck from my normal tooling supplier, 3 weeks ago.

I thought it strange at the time, when my feedback count increased.

Just checked and mines gone up by 200

The person Ive dealt with a lot over the years has gone up from 4500 to 9000

Must be the change in multiple buys from the same dealer
Les Marsh

Just logged into e-bay and my score has gone from 270 to 297 overnight.
Stilldrillin

Checked again this morning.

I`ve gained 14 overnight!
flywheel61

They've also changed the feedback scoring to be over 12 months instead of eternal, so mine has gone up to 100% . I had one negative from my first buy, because the money order arrived 3 days later than the stipulated 7 days - unfortunately I was a newbie and the seller didn't bother to communicate - just left neg feedback. He actually started as case against me and then, when he found out he was in the wrong, dropped the whole thing, still leaving me with the neg feedback, and there was nothing I could do about it,     .

The new system now rights an obvious wrong,

My score just jumped 182 to 188 today.

Did any other US members notice it?
johnreid

Mine went from 160 to 171, but the Neutral that I got as a Buyer still remains.
Tried to leave feedback on the SR1a jerk but cant do it, even when going through the Auction page. Ho well, at least he didnt get a positive.
tmuir

My rating just went up from 105 to 123.

Is it just me that thinks this is stupid.
Now Scam sellers can sell multiple items for 1 cent each to another false account and overnight get themselves a high rating which unless people go and read his ratings rather than just looking at the number they will look like a good ebayer.
johnreid

I also lost my 100% positive because of the neutral left by that jerk that I paid within seconds of the Auction end and paid a high shipping fee only to have the guy send it a month later Postage Due.

This isnt in the least bit fair.
Nick

So sellers can only leave positive or nothing at all? They can not leave a negative or a neutral?
mc_mc

Just noticed that I now have 100% feedback rating  (previously it was 99.7%).    So the idiot who deliberately gave a negative when he pulled out of an auction has finally been cancelled out under the new rules.

I've also noticed that on the bidders list on something I'm bidding for it's just showing Bidder1, Bidder2 etc.  The item price is currently £3.45  it previously only did that for auctions over £100  so it seems it's doing it for all amounts now.

Its been like that in OZ for a couple of months now so they have obviously rolled it out to UK too now.
Mister Occlusion

mine just jumped overnight, and my neg from last year is gone.

There's both good and bad points to this.  I think one still has to look at a listing and ask questions.  The quality of the response, for me, usually determines if and how much I will bid.
Dampfzauberer

Mine also jumped now over night...a plus of about 20 points
johnreid

I have cooled off about the feedback issue, but I still think that a neutral shouldnt count the same as a negative when calculating the feedback percentage. There are all kinds of rumors about those having less than 100% being required to use PayPal for the only form of payment but although I have heard it from many sources I still think it is a rumor. I received my Neutral as a buyer and that is what is so ironic in my eyes.

I dont see how they could eliminate the use of Checks and Money Orders for payment, even if they did how could they enforce it?
Titan

My Feedback has jumped from 230 somthing to 317.

I cannot work out how they arrived at this figure:

If you add up total individual feedback over last 12 months I get 179

Total Feedback since I started (including multiple feedback from the same people) = 548

Total feedback as a buyer 248

Total Feedback as a seller 300

So how did they get 317?
flywheel61

John, when you go to pay for something on eBay in OZ, the only option is Paypal, unless you state the item can be picked up, then it's open slather.  I don't know if you could advertise as pick up only and make your own arrangements from there, or whether eBay/ Paypal will be checking to see who the buyer is and id they live too far away for it to be a pick up.    I also think that the , " please send me an invoice" option has been changed as well. Still waiting for the outcome of the determination from the ACCC over the multiple protests/submissions against eBay.

Titan, only the multiple feedbacks for the last 12 months are counted  and added to  your score - not your total since starting on ebay.

I think that would be the crippling blow here, too many in the US refuse to do the PayPal thing. That would eliminate a big percentage of buyers and thus create that need for a good competitor. I do not understand how the Patents on so many of Ebays functions work, but I think that os the big hurdle for an upstart.
A few years ago Google was courting an online auction company, I think they would be the ones to topple Ebay if they wished.
