Not making excuses for my laziness when it comes to polishing, but I polished all my engines about 7 months ago for a one off photo shoot.
The ones I haven't fired actually have a nice look to the brass.
So if I was going, I wouldn't be polishing any

Yup, 11 hopefully.
Had the same with the wheel locking at Stansted airport- had a man come with huge iron bar, stuck it onto the brake drum, gave a massive bash with hammer and it freed it.

its the handbrake that might freeze on
An all too common problem these days. If the car is parked on a flatish surface, like a car park, leave it in gear with the handbrake off, or on the very first click.
Should have seen what the breakdown man had to do to my father's car after I could not get the handbrake off and removing the wheel to get at the drum did not help either. He had just got this car and then went off on a 4 week holiday, and I had not realised it had been delivered and parked with the handbrake on.

Why polish them if you're going to fire them? I'd wait until after STIA so you only need to do it once.

Wasn't frozen, can't leave it in gear unfortunately as its on a sloped drive

Make some wheel chocks out of blocks of wood, or even a couple of large bricks. Works on my Trabant which is stuck idle in my driveway awaiting restoration to working order one day.
