Finally got a Bowman

Won this morning
Shipping is a very steep L35

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAP...;ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:GB:1123

As someone mentioned, I had asked about a bolt coming out of the back and seller said there was.
Now I have to find a stack.   What size is it?  Dia of steam pipe to stack?
Any source for the parts?

Can't wait to receive it and fire it up--Will have to get Owen over to see if the Brits are as good as they say they are.
tmuir

Nice, besides the stack it looka all there.
I understand the flywheel along weighs nearly a pound which is why postage will be so high.

For old-school chunkyness from the UK the engine you have coming is number one. Wish I had one.
johnreid

I really like the Bowmans, I bet you will like it a lot.

Awsome!

Congratulations, you cannot beat a 101.

101 chimney is 1"od.
101 chimney, 8 1/2" long, exhaust pipe hole 2 5/8" from bottom.
101 chimney slots 3 1/4" from bottom, 3/4" long.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Les,  I now recall you were the one who advised me to ask seller about the screw in back.  Was also nice to know what price level I should be at.  Glad it was a little cheaper due to the high postage.

That's ok.
When you get it you will realise the postage is high because it is a heavy engine.
Also when you get it you will need to move the flywheel to the lower shaft as it is on the wrong one at the moment.

This is where it should be.
Kritika

Brilliant buy Bigal

As Les says, you need to move the flywheel to its correct position.  Just take a look at this link for an idea of what you will be receiving.

Sandman

Well done Al.

You can't beat a bit of Bowman.

Well done Al, that was a good price, and the chimney tubing is easy to sort, the top of the chimney is more fiddly- Steve_s has done a post on this somewhere.

Not splitting hairs here, but it was me that mentioned the steel going through the boiler....

But Les does know about that as well- i think he has 2 101s

Sorry for not giving credit where credit is due--had narrowed it down to two people and to lazy to check post

Looking forward to making any needed repairs and getting this running.  I have enough shelf queens
johnreid

I guarantee that once you take care of a few minor and easy details, you will have one of your favorite runners in that one.

I do have two and I have had to do that repair to one of them.

Thanks for the credit but it wasn't me who mentioned the screw.
IndianaRog

Al, congrats on winning that 101...they are my favorite Bowman and satisfy the brass lover in anyone.

I see Les got you the chimney dimensions.  There is a thread by Steve_S on how to fabricate the flared top that goes on the chimney.  His approach was brilliant and produced a very realistic replacement.

Enjoy!
Steve_S

Here's a link to the thread that Rog mentioned:
