I'm not really an artist, you can tell. Not totally the effect I wanted, but close enough.
I'll shoot a real video at some point. Let's see how long this one lasts before youtube yanks it.
Bugsy
I thought it was really good!
That's a magnificent engine.

Very nicely presented.
Thanks for sharing that very rare beast with us.
I am one of the very few who have seen it in person.
This is the first time I've seen it run !!!!

What a BRUTE! The house had to shake when it was up to speed. Uber Cool

That.... is.... AWESOME!!
That is SO cool!! What a beast!
Why would YouTube yank it? You made the video, so it does not violate any copy rights....

They are really cracking down on people who upload videos with soundtracks, it violates copy right laws. This vid will probably never get taken off, not enough views to become a threat.
Thats a great engine, combining a jensen 55 with a jensen 20, perfect What are you going to call it? The Jensen 52

If it wasn't yanked right away it probably won't be. Soundtracks on WMG copyrights are disabled immediately. One of my pet peeves with You Tube!
What a magnificent engine, Mark, truly unique, majestic and powerful.
It is indeed a comment on the power of popular sentiment that this engine did not win EOTM. It was far and away the most unique and valuable engine entered.

Mark, I didn't even know you have become the proud owner of that creation. It performs, looks like and IS a fantastic piece of engineering. Pretty good video skills on your part as well.
Bravo!

I think you ARE an artist - That video was brilliant.
The music was perfect as well.
As far as youtube are concerned they might just mute your video, as they did with one of mine. Even then you can sound track it with some of the free music covers they provide if you want to.

That realy is a beast! I want one NOW (no, I can't afford to make you an offer you can't refuse).
Concerning soundtracks on videos, if YouTube are going to start pulling vids with copyrighted soundtracks, maybe some of our musician members could share some of their material?

Mark, that is one fair lump of Jensen, and a credit to Steve's handy work. I take it is fitted with both a 660W Immersion rod, and a 500W blanket heater?
What sort of run time do you get? I am banking on about 6 or 7 minutes, as a pair of #20's will shift some steam
A well put together video too.

Sorry, been too involved with sleeping and then work to get back here
Some targeted replies:
"What are you going to call it?"
I'm not 100% certain what it's truly designated as. Twin-20 and 55 Big Bore are two names I've heard. I personally refer to it as the 20T, since T stands for Twin and is also a tribute to its builder. It just works.
"Why would YouTube yank it?"
Oddly enough when I uploaded a test video to photobucket in flv format, they yanked it right away for copyright violation, yet both they (and youtube) had no problem with the mpeg version. I guess music from cheesy 20 year old childrens movies aren't targets for copyright enforcement
Rog: I hinted at it twice before
Was sorta disappointed that none picked up on that
Then there was the sad trouncing in the EoTM a few M's back..
"I take it is fitted with both a 660W Immersion rod, and a 500W blanket heater?"
Not 100% certain on this fact either, but I *think* it's the earlier 550watt immersion heater, along with a blanket heater.
I have to phone Steve up some day and get the full details (unless he sees this and posts them )
I honestly did not time it for run length. I've not run it at full power either, yet, as I want to get a strong enough load hooked up so it does not run off the table on me
Makes a fantastic choof, though. I'll get some new footage soon.
The only thing it does not do terribly well is reverse. The spring runs afoul of the cylinder when the linkage is dropped and so it tends to ease the reverser upwards. It runs, but at a noticeably slower speed. I wonder if the old style Jensen 55 reverse lever would work better?
In a perfect world, Mr J not only would have said "Build It" to this, but would have recommissioned the S-series 4" boiler to power it.
Alas!
IndianaRog
Mark, I must have missed the hints completely...had no clue you had gotten it from Steve. I knew he had built it awhile back however.
Inspirational to say the least!

That video, and the engine, are works of art!
Very, very, very impressive!

A unique one-off masterpiece of a steam plant , and a very nice vid .
Well done Mark .

Superb engine! How is the base of the engine made, is it a brand new casting made from a pattern?

The 55 base was used.

Virtually the whole thing was made with stock Jensen parts. The exception are the crank screws and specially machined spacers that take up the space between the big ends and the crank plate.
There are several modifications made to the stock parts. Some essential, and others secondary or aesthetic.
It goes a long way to showing the thoroughness of Mr J's planning, when he designed these machines. That you can take a cylinder from one engine and practically drop it onto another to me shows a very pragmatic approach. I doubt it would be as practical (or possible) to mount D24 cylinders on a Wilesco D22.
