First Bowman - AC DynamoJust received my first Bowman Accessory, it’s a Bowman AC - 2 Volt 0.1 Amp Dynamo. Rog has one on his site from 1927 so I am guessing this is from around then as well.
Now does anyone know where I can get a couple of bulbs to fit this?

Too cool, that looks like it would be a perfect companion to a Bowman.

Steve, my Bowman unit has a GE#14 bulb in it and it lights nicely. Those are very common bulbs in the US easily obtained at Radio Shack (I think that same brand might be Tandy in the UK).
Nice piece!

Very nice accessory.
Suprised Tandy still isn't going there. Still is here

Radio Shack is going through changes as they seem to feel that the small electronic components are not as profitable per square foot of floor space, there is a big shift towards Cellular/mobile phones and as time goes on the small parts will no longer be available in stores.

Maybe I should have added their website.

Thanks for that link Les,
It looks like they only do a 2.5 Volt 0.35 Amp bulb. Model # Round MES Type (E10)
I need a 2 Volt 0.1 Amp so I don’t know if that will do the job, not sure of thread size either.
Can any electric guru’s out there help?

I have the same dynamo.
I had to repain mine, because the whole paint flaked off...
Now before you do and get lightbulbs, ensure that this one works...
Because mine does not!
The magnet in the middle almost lost all of his power
So rotor turns nice and freely, but provides no electricity

Thanks for the good advice Mirko.
I have had it tested by one of the electronic guys at work today, and it gives of a good charge - so all I need to do is get this hard to find Bulb and give it a proper test.

I am sure that Mirko could get his Magnet remagnetized.

Mirko, my Bowman (Doll) dynamo just like yours has very little feel of magnetic "pull" when you spin it, but once spun fairly fast it lights the bulb beautifully. Jensen magnets seem to have a noticeable polarity to them that you can feel when spinning them...not so with the Bowman (made by Doll or the other way around).
Test yours with a Dremel tool and soft brush (my standard dynamo test regime)...you might be OK or if there is a problem it might be a loose wire/bad connection or the bulb.
cheers,
Rog

Took it already some months apart: the magnet can't pick up a nail So the problem is the steel magnet lost his magnetism.
The wires are all ok.
Put back together, but if you spinn it it runs like a flywheel....turns, and turns and turns..with no restistance
Also hooked it up onto a fast engine and ran it fullspeed...not even a glimmer
So stands now only for display

Reid explained how to recharge a permanent magnet on the second page of this thread:
