First post from So California

Hello all,
I found my first Toy steam engine in an Antique shop close to were I live.
It's a Weeden 14, that seems to be in good condition and came with it's burner and a little funnel.
The throttle valve was frozen, site glass broken & handle for the whistle was missing....  which I have since fixed.

I must admit I'm looking forward to buying another vintage steam engine.

Hello Bob and welcome to the friendliest forum around.

Nice #14 you have there. I love mine as it is one of the best low speed performers that I have, and really enjoy watching it barely ticking over. Although the engine itself isn't very rare, finding one with the burner is most uncommon it seems, so congratulations on that!

Welcome from Germany, Bob, it is really a good hobby for all people interested in technical machinery . I think there´s no better way to get   involved in vintage mechanics than this one. So you will fit right  in here I suppose.

cheers Joe

And again, thanks for all the welcomes.

It was a funny thing me running across this Weeden.
The wife and I were just out for lunch and afterwards I said lets stop in the local antique shop.

I spotted the little engine in the back in a cabinet but didn't check it out at that time.

Then later that evening I did some research on the Net and saw several Weeden's just like it on Youtube.
I couldn't wait to get back over there the next day to buy it.

Pretty cool and fun stuff. Not only the Weeden, but meeting all of you,  all over the world, I might add.

And just from a chance visit to the local antique shop.

Sometimes it is funny how you get your engines:
I really stumbled over one of my  engines on a car boot sale  when the engine was stored under a table.

cheers Joe
