First Run: Jensen #55 Experimental Deluxe (by me)Here is a short video of my recently acquired Jensen #55 test bed engine with
prototype #2 ball bearing generator (15BL).
It had enough speed and power to roast 2 fresh bulbs in short order.
Watch it pick up even more speed when the bulb quits.

Gil, a beauty of an engine for sure. I really like the dual chimneys.
It may have just been putting out a lot of rpms and hence fried the bulbs, but check and see if bulb was a GE#14 or a 352X. The former seem to last forever in the Jensen generators, the later are only rated for the 15E type generator and will fry quickly in the heavier output models.
It was pretty cool to hear the rpms pick up when the bulb blew!

Wow that's a nice piece. I like the model 20 flywheel on it too
I'll need to get another 55 one day that I can do things to - really don't want to mod my older one, and it's pretty gutless with the old 500watt heater.
cool! I just noticed the modified steam line and the oiler caps. Now THERE'S an idea!

That one really is a strong runner, it certainly seems to have more power than a standard one.

Very nice, one of a kind engine Gil.
Interesting how the rpms increase once the bulb is blown.
As a prelude to our fairground construction we ran it with the Wilesco Showman's Engine. I was astonished at the difference in power supplied to the five fairground pieces once the dynamo was disconnected.

Wow thats a great runner, too good if it fried a bulb?

Wow I didnt think it was possible for one to run powerful enough to blow the bulb in a 15!!
I just cant get over the exhaust stacks, that thing is one of the coolest Jensens ever.

I finally watched it with sound.
I can't believe how much powering the bulbs slow these things down.
