Yesterday Jilly and I were invited to go to a small club railway about 40 minutes drive from home at Woodrige which is on the south side of Brisbane. The members were wonderful and I learnt so much about setting up steaming and running the loco. it was a very enjoyable and educational day. We had a little trouble with a couple of things which with their guidance we sorted out and got her running. There is so much to learn as I found it wasnt as easy as running the smaller gauge loco i have. Jilly took about an hours video of it showing the instructor explaining and helping me which is great. I have had to edit out a lot to keep it under 10 min for youtube. I am uploading video now so when its ready i will post hopefully before heading of to work this morning. and for Clinton there is some great whistle blowing scenes as well

Hi -- Jilly here
It was a fabulous day yesterday. I went badly prepared as I thought I would be reading a book all day in the car in the shade. So the sun really attacked me. It was 30 degrees yesterday and today the hottest August Queensland day ever is expected -- 33 degrees for Brisbane and 35 out in Ipswich near where my Dad lives. Where are the winter chills???
Back to the train -- she had a few problems but had heaps of pulling power and Graham had a ball. So did I. Hope you enjoy the video. (We cut out the bits of me filming the ground-hehehe.)
Cheers Jilly.

It was about 25 degrees in Stockholm today, I was out sailing.
But it's summer here.
Did Graham let you drive at all, Jilly?
Jilly-Graham
I don't think I will learn to drive her -- Graham is on Learner plates and will be for some time. I think I will just watch how Graham goes before thinking about driving her. It is all quite complicated!!! Graham was very lucky to have expert one on one tuition yesterday so he learned heaps. Cheers Jilly

Oooo! I’ve been waiting (so impatiently!) for this!!
Not quite your average Mamod loco steam up & unless Jilly cut out the disasters, you appear to be doing a fine job Graham & the Marie-Estelle runs beautifully – congrats!!!
‘Only’ 35 degrees?? We hit 40 the other day & 38/39 the rest of the time, hence the lack of steamy videos right now! But wouldn’t have wanted to fiddle with live steam at 33 either! Although, to drive the glorious Marie-Estelle, think I’d have made an exception!
Thanks for getting the video up so quickly for us all to enjoy! Another hugely envious spectator, here!

Brilliant is an understatement, that was so great! I am truly green with envy

G and J...wonderful, simply wonderful. I was smiling for you Graham as you rounded the corners!!

That was fantastic! Great to see the loco in steam, I'm sure it's quite a learning curve, plenty to keep you occupied during the run!
It looks and runs superbly though, you must be a very happy man!!
Les
It was great to see you enjoying yourselves and the loco in steam.
How worried were you going down the incline at the start??
redryder
Gosh that just had to be the greatest !!!!

I imagine it will take a long time to wipe the grin off your face.

Great to see it. Thatnks for posting that vid
Graham-Jilly
thanks every one for your great words of encouragement
the ride down the ramp was ok as I was running on adrenalin
we had a great day and hope to have many more weekends like this.
it was mind boggling to get the grips of every thing that was need to keep this loco running definitely a huge learning curve. I guess it will get easier with practice.

Too bad YouTube is limited to 10 minutes as I am sure the instructions would have been interesting too. I do hope that this was not the last video we get to see of it.
Graham-Jilly
John the instructions were great I wish i could have fitted more video in. wont be the last mate im sure
Compound
great stuff, ive always wanted a go on a little one
dervard94
Wow, can understand why you enjoyed it so much. Lovely looking loco as well, runs a treat!
bessytractor
excellent stuff! I do like smaller locos, much more fun than big ones.
Its like I say to anyone I instruct down the road, if you can get the thing into steam no problems then theres not really much to worry about! You seem to have got the knack fine!
