First Vid of SL2 with Roundhouse lubricator & RegulatorI gave my SL2 a test run this morning and all I can say is WOW.
The new lubricator in conjunction with the extra superheating it now gets really flys literally, I joined the flying SL2 club this morning when I at first had the regulator open too far. Even at flat out before it wasnt in danger of leaving the tracks so it is obviously going much faster now. Sorry only got the beginning of the derailment as I was busy trying to save it rather than film it.
One thing to be aware of is now there are a lot of really hot bits in the cab which you can touch when trying to blow the whistle. OUCH
This is a big video and if you have anything less than broadband I would suggest going to get a coffee whilst it downloads

I've just run it again and noticed something worth mentioning.
Both the regulator and lubricator and decent hunks of metal and at first when you get the boiler up to pressure these two bits of metal steal heat away from the steam until they warm up, what this means is you get more condensation you have clear before the loco will run.
Not really a problem but just something to be aware of.

It runs!!
Now why didn't Rosa run that well when she had the regulator in the back?
Excellent job Tony!

Have you worked out the scale speed of it now? It really does go!
Nearing the 100mph scale speed?
Quick calc so could be wrong but 1:19 scale speed for 100mph is about 7.7 feet per second.
Maybe a scale 100mph is too high to aim for.
Need a good run of straight track and someone to catch the loco at the other end...or maybe fit parachutes like a drag car.

I worked it out pre this upgrade before it was all run in and it did around 60MPH scale speed.
I know the exact size of my track so need to do a vid of it going flat out and then I can work out the speed.
May do that tomorrow.
Here is where I worked it out before.

Thanks,
I'm going to go through my steam oil pretty fast now.
In one run it uses almost all of the oil you can fit into an IP lubricator and that used to last me 3 to 4 runs. Don't have to worry about my cylinders getting enough lubrication now.
