I hate to rag out people, but I must agree with you James.
The problem I have had with him is wrong advice hence wrong parts sent, and ridiculous postage costs. And I mean ridiculous.
As an example, this engine

Postage to OZ is 30pound. In reality it would cost about 10-12, and definitely no more than 15 with international signed for

Loco GasketsHi Graham-Jilly,
I have to disagree with James & Mamodman.
I have met Chas at several model shows and he does give a good counter service, although I agree his postal service can be slow (not tried e-mailing yet).
However he does a very good loco cylinder gasket (I bought 4 from him this year for some of my locos). His gaskets are 1 for each cylinder (£1.25 each), unlike the original Mamod gaskets (which is what PPS appear to be selling) which require 2 for each cylinder. Chas's gaskets are of a much stronger material and give a good seal, however I find the Mamod gaskets can tear easily and do not like being removed once soaked in oil, etc. He used to sell them in his ebay shop, but I've not seen them in his ebay shop for sometime.
If he quotes too high a price to post to Australia, I would be happy to order them for you and post them on, as I need to order some railway parts and hope he can get me some spares for an SA1 which I am trying to return to working order.
Chris Cairns.
