Geek question.I use Mozilla FireFox as my browser and it works fine however,
after I am use it for awhile I notice my computer is running when I don't have any applications open.
When I open the Task Manager I see the CPU Usage is up as high as 50%, again with no applications open.
It's like it's thinking about something all by itself.
Any ideas as to what the heck it's doing?

Hmm.. perhaps you just have a lot of background processes open and/or have a weak CPU? I remember my laptop could get up to 30% CPU usage while idling before I upgraded to a better CPU. I'm sure someone more tech savy on here will be able to help you though.

Some programs keep running in the background even when you shut them down, Word used to be really bad like that.

If you go into task manager a click on Processes, you'll be able to see how much of the CPU each process is using, maybe this will help you narrow down on what's causing the problem.

Hi Mike
When you are in task manager, click on processes. It will tell you what is using the CPU.
When you find the culprit you may realise what it is. If not, you can google the process and it will give an idea of what it is/does
