Wow what a nice gathering of Steamers and people. It is always nice to put a face to the name, Simon.
Looks like a lot of fun, wish I was where I could go to something like that.
Andy

well it looks like you all had fun and a great selection of engine
Chris

Looks great. I came across the leaflet about it when tidying up yesterday, but was unfortunately unable to come along.

Are there going to future meetings because if so I will try and come along.

Paul, the SE3 was still going until 5 O'clock! Then we discovered there was still meths in the burner and water in the boiler, so it may have gone for another 15 minutes
Mamodman123

Wow a pre war SE3

worth the visit just for that!
Minor1PJG

It certainly was a very nice engine and still in the original wooden box too!!
steamyjim

Great pics!

Is the person who owns the 3 locos in the last pic a forum member?

The Hobbies SE3 4 Wick burner

A Bowman M180 (?) in great condition. The decal is too good, so methinks it has been restored.

Mike's friend John (who came all the way from London!) had brought with him this Meccano Chair-O-Plane. Here's a shot of the 90 degree drive.

The SE3's countershaft.

I couldn't recognise the make of this engine. Although the firebox would point to a German company...

A closer shot of the engine frame.

A very nice home built Dribbler. The boiler is from a SR1A and the cylinders, port face and pistons are from a Mamod engine as well.

The builder of the Dribbler also brought this engine along with him. Yet again a home build, this time incorporating a Wilesco cylinder and valve gear. It was ever so silent, moreso than my MF Twin

Mike's MM1.

An action shot of Paul's latest acquisition. A brass flywheeled Minor 2.

A modified Mamod. The owner has several heavily modified Mamod locos, mainly to look like prototypes. The coupling rods on this one are very nice...

Another Mamod engine, this looks like the Ffestiniog Railway's George England engines.

The Hobbies SE3's Original Wooden box.

Mike's mint SP3.

Video still to come...
steamyjim

Nice pics MTA!

If you ever see those locos converted Mamod locos again. Could you take some more pics of them please?

Sure thing Jim. The owner is normally at the Tilford show so I'll probably see him then
bessytractor

ill bet that George England one is nigh on wind-proof!
andysleigh

simon- i think the guy from tilford said that that mamod looking loco was a buy from someone who makes them, but only a few are made, unless you have heard otherwise
steamyjim

Thanks MTA
Minor1PJG

Yes the man with the Locos will be at Tilford again at Easter with his track - he said that if we will be there next year to take our Locos to run on his track as well. I'll certainly put the date in my diary as I loved it this year and that's when I first met my new friends Simon, Andy and Mike Was it really only Easter this year??

Great shot of my new MM2 - thanks Simon.

(Sniff) was truly a great day (sniff)

No probs on the pic front
rangerssteamtoys

I like that homemade wilesco stationary. cool. what kind of burner is that?
Minor1PJG

It looked like the lamp from an old parrafin lamp with a flat wick that could be wound up and down.
Andy

great picture like the loco

Hobbies SE3.... *drools*
Boilertite

I was very pleased with the turnout on Sunday both with the number of people (I think 15) that turned up but also the selection of things that were brought along, either to run or just to show.

As mentioned in someones earlier posting there is a proposal to hold another meeting in January and I've put forward Sunday Jan 20th but this needs to be approved by the society first. There is also a possible problem as we are having rebuilding work going on.

I will post the date once its definite.

Mike
Chris

Thanks Mike.

Sorry I didn't come this time, it was in the back of my head, but I didn't find the flyer until the day before and then we had other plans.

Hopefully I will come along in January.
Minor1PJG

You missed a great afternoon Chris. Tea and cakes too (somebody had a birthday! !)

Sunday Jan 20th suits me

The birthday cake was very good. Compliments to Andy's mum!

I doubt I will be able to make the 20th as I am having a meeting at the NRM, York the day before
James

O MTA

Coming to York??

Maybe we can meet up there, OR, you could call here!!!

That would be good!

Not alot of chances for us to meet, with you being a southerner and me being north
Minor1PJG

Maybe we should make it a different Sunday as it would be a shame if you weren't there Simon
Graham-Jilly

I vote there should be a meating in march/april so jilly and i can attend whilere over there
Minor1PJG

I think by then we'll be ready for our second meeting of 2008 so lets include a time that suits you for then

Wish I could James but I'm meeting up with people from another forum to have a meeting about the possible construction of a Miniature Railway Museum... I doubt I'll have chance to look around so I would probably go back later in the year Although I'll probably be at STIA anyway

I didn't know you cared Paul (blows' nose) where's that box of fluffy tissues?
