Go devil steam engineI just got a midwest model v steam engine from ebay. My plan is to make a go-devil steam engine with radio control. A go devil is a type of outboard boat motor for going into swamps and marshes where the water is shallow and full of vegitation. It would make a fine engine for running around in my ditch and for where I live.If you want more info look at this movie http://youtube.com/watch?v=dPSO7KbyqsU
and go to this website http://www.godevil.com/

Hi Ranger.
That sounds like a great project. I never knew those boats were a go devil. I was picturing one of those boats that power a large fan, like in the Everglades.
Learn something new everyday.
Good luck with your project. That will be great

Hi yeah that would be a air boat here in the states. My dad had one many years ago and it ran about 40mph in 2 inches of water.

Just watched the vid, some interesting places in that swamp.
I went crocodile spotting once when I was working in the Northern Territory Australia at Mary River and so over 100 crocodiles in the few hours I was there.
We used a jet boat for the shallow muddy salt water part.
Never seen one of those 'Go Devil' boats before.
Will make an interesting project, keep us informed on it.

sure will, I got my midwest steam engine running good and now I'll start working. I figure that I will need 2 channels one for steering and one for tilt of the engine. I thought I might need a third channel for throttle but then i figured that the higher the prop is out of the water the slower it will go.
