Going Mad Going Digital

North Wales finally started going digital today and I'm Frazzled.
have been in the TV(television)!!! trade, since leaving school all those years ago.I saw the old B+W valve sets 405 lines through colour 625 lines to youve guessed 1080HD.The phones have never stopped still it's good to be busy and what recession, goes to show people will still spend  if neccessary. We haven't stopped for the last week and it's only stage 1 of another 5 to go. -Si

We went digital in June, I had a converter box but lightning took it and my TV set, so I now have a Flatscreen LCD

We didn't have it

There is never much on there anyways!

Well you can have umpteen channels of nothing on now!!.Seriously though if the channel providers are putting out a good quality signal the results are stunning even on ordinary definition.I have a Panasonic plasma HD ready and some of the quality broadcasts are superb especially the quality BBC progs and ITV will often put ou good quality blockbusters.
I hadn't realised the States had gone digital yet do you guys over there have a colour control now or is it still a Hue control? and out of curiosity have you gone 1080p or 1080i-Si

They haven't missed much though - and as for BBC 3 and BBC 4! Good god - comedy hasn't been as dated as that since the 1930's!

It makes "Are you being served?" look like the cutting edge!

Please take that back

Yes BBC 4 is pretty bad

ITV 4 have a few decent films

We went digital in Sweden about 2 years ago, stage by stage.
There was a big fuss when people realised they had to buy a new TV or a box. But it's settled down now.
I would probably watch more TV, Discovery is great, if I didn't have to sit here reading all of these threads!

I believe it is 1080 p here, my set is a 32" set so for all practical purposes 720 p is good enough for that size screen, when I bought my set I looked at a 1080 set next to the 720 I bought and no difference could be seen. This was with a test pattern off of a Blue Ray DVD. I still think it was just an excuse to get people to buy new TVs, then the economy tanked and it backfired on them.

PBS is the educational Network in the US and I am now getting about 20 more PBS channels than before so TV has improved here at least.

have had digital for the last 3 years here but HD tv only in the last 10-18 months. They are phasing out the old analog signal by 2012.
On our 49" LCD cant tell much difference between SD (standard definition) and HD (high definition

I have had to go out and buy a new "Digital" aerial, as my set top box requested to do an upgrade scan resulting in that all the existing channels were wiped

Not fitted it yet, but hopefully this should cure the problem.

We went digital in 2007. I had to say good bye to my monochrome tv .
