Google Books - Free Steam Engine BooksThought I'd share something I found.
On Google Books there is this book about steam engines:
http://books.google.co.uk/books?i...YC&pg=PA1&dq=steam+engine
Very detailed information in it but not a light read at 437 pages. There are some pictures too.
The old fashioned flowery language is fun too "It is subject to the undulations and acclivities, which reduce the rate of speed much more than similar inequalities effect the velocity on common roads" (talking about the poor quality of train track in those days).
Here's another one:

I expect there may be many more. You can browse them online or download a PDF free of charge.

When I was in High School I worked part time in a Restaurant, and they had Steam tables to keep the food warm

Thanks for sharing MC
I'd like to print them out, but I have no chance.
Nearly got caught prinitng out 50 pages of Mamod and other steam leaflets/adds etc on the laser printer at work.
No way I'd get that many pages in
