great British weather

well we have all had it i think and there are 1000s of floods everwhere now

these are a few views from my window

James

We got a digital rain gauge measure thingy. Sounds posh. Should have been £50 but where dad works they were chucking it out so he nabbed it

We normally get 2-3 mm of rain.

Today alone we have had 86mm and it is still coming! The other night we had 27 in 20 mins and 109mm in 2 days!

Let's build an ark!
SillyBilly

A large amount of the Severn Valley Railway has swept away. And is going to cost millions to repair, that is the worst thing the rain has EVER done. It's a total tradegy, it's the sort of thing that makes you cry.

Jeez, you guys are really copping it.

We had a fair bit over the past 24hrs, again.

I'm not complaining though. Been sent home with pay, early, 2 days in a row.

My son can`t get to work at Rotherham this morning.

The M1 is closed, because a dam above it has cracked and is threatening to flood the area below it!

I were going to make a video of me steaming my pop pop boat in the middle of a flooded field of grain
TRAPPERKEEPER

Rained so hard here today I could barely see out of my windsheild, had to go really slow and I was late
SillyBilly

Not mutch rain in Wales !
Sandman

We've had a lovely sunny day up here.
Steamgirl

Bah! Was going to have a little Mamod steaming session with my mate tonight, but due to the weather and the knock-on effect on the trains, he has to stay for a late meeting at work (he works on timetables for Network Rail!)

I can't even get on with my restoration because all my engines and stuff are at his house
IndianaRog

Sorry for your weather SteamGirl...tough when a planned steamup goes awry!!

BUT, it has to stop raining sometime...

Having mostly electrically heated engines myself, I "fire" them indoors all the time. In the past 6 months I have accumulated a fair few meths burning beasts and it is indeed nicer to steam them outdoors, so I empathize when the weather prevents that.

Cheer up, the sun will return...hopefully!!!

It's been sunny here today, although there has been a strong easterly wind (I can tell by the way the tree outside my window is moving ).

It was p*****g it down when I visited a couple of years ago! One of my mates at Amberley said this about Blaneau Ffestiniog:

The hills are grey, the houses are grey, the grass is grey, even the people are grey
SillyBilly

Was that Peter Smith ?

Nope, but the guy who said it probably got it from him!

Barry, when I went to Wales we stayed in a hotel in Llanberis so naturally we were surrounded by slate!
