Greetings from sunny West Central FloridaI guess I should have done this sooner but here goes.
My name is Mike and I am 64 and starting my second childhood.
Ok,, I never really left the first. At least that’s how it read in the divorce papers.
By trade I am,,, well I don’t have trade. I’m that Jack guy. A little bit of everything.
I have been interested in mechanics all my life so steam engines are a natural. It just took me a while to find them. Now that I have I can’t seem to stop collecting them which, I see from some post, is no real oddity.
I especially taking an old derelict and making a running jewel out of it.
I tend toward Empire engines because I love the way they are built and Weeden because they are plentiful and usually affordable. As I get some rebuilt they’ll be returning to the forum or ebay for sale and then I’d like to get into some really good engines.
Probably my best engine at present is a Stuart 10V that does not seem to run very well. Might be a timing issue. One of these days I'll get around to looking into that with a little help from my friends.
I currently have some 5 Mamod Rollers, a Weeden #646 roller, 29 stationery’s and a good start on a collection of line shafts and accessories. It’s a good thing I have a little pension or I’d have to sell my ’05 Harley Road King for steam money. It's just too bad I only have a LITTLE pension.
I thoroughly enjoy this forum and the new friends I have made.

Hi, and welcome from Germany.
Don´t be sad, Mike, I have dreams in steam and I have a long time to wait to fulfill. I believe that the lack of money is a problem all serious steam collectors have. I am content with what I have until than. If the collection grows slowly, every engine means something special to the owner.
cheers Joe
