Brass one Me1.

Bottom right Te1a or an SR1a
At a guess bottom left SP6
The other not sure

I thought the bottom middle, with the holes, was the SA1?
Lewis
the one with 4 holes was used on the mec1 sp3 lineshafts and all the mobiles using a sa1 chassis
tmuir the bottom left is not an sp4 one
and the bottom right is not a te1 or sr1 one either
told you not easy

Yeah it has a small pully cut into it, same size as the other thick masak wheels. As far as i'm aware
Lewis
the rim is thicker and its more rounder

All the '53 flywheels were thicker!
Lewis
becuase they were made from mazak right ?

| lewisop1991 wrote: | | becuase they were made from mazak right ? |
It's just the way they were made.
All the wheels after '53 were masak!
Lewis
prob becuase the brass ones were turned and the mazak was cast

| lewisop1991 wrote: | | prob becuase the brass ones were turned and the mazak was cast |
What do you mean? they were thick because that's how they wanted them to be. They could have made them even thicker! or thinner like they did later.
Lewis
i thought it was thinker becuase of the casting process
also notice that the hole in the wheel is alot smaller

The brass ones were cast too
If you cast something, it doesn't automatically make it thicker than if you turn something from soild.
The only turned bits were the pulleys etc....
Lewis
aye
must have been expensive casting brass

| lewisop1991 wrote: | aye

Well however much the brass is, it cheaper than turning from solid because there is less waste but you can't turn those '48 flywheels up!
Lewis
no i meant brass casting is more expensive then mazak casting

Well yeah
Why they changed I suppose! still looks good, but not a patch on brass
Lewis
i havent got any brass ones unless you cant the me1 flywheel
ive noticed my mm1 disc crank is 1949 and has a rasied base and my 1953 mm2 has a flatbase

MM1 got a raised base much earlier yours shouldn't be a flatbase if thats what you're thinking
Lewis
but it is

| lewisop1991 wrote: | but it is |
It is what?
Lewis
what i want to know is why is 1953 engine got a flatbase when an earlyer engine from 1949 has a raised base
Mamodman123
| lewisop1991 wrote: | what i want to know is why is 1953 engine got a flatbase when an earlyer engine from 1949 has a raised base |
Because the MM1 got a raised base earlier thats all. The MM1 flatbse is usually associated with pre-war or during and just after! 1949 is way way too late!

oh right cheers for that it dosent mention it in the bible

A mistake.
Your MM1 is way too late, i think it has a raised base on the box aswell, which would also explain
Lewis
