Handy air compressorIf like me you have one of those B&Q fence spraying outfits a pump up container and pipe with a trigger spray nozzle on the end then you have an ideal air supply for a Mamod.
First of all clean it out unless you want to paint the inside of the boiler!!
You will need a air adapter to screw into the boiler.
Also a pedal cycle pump flexible tube with a screwed end that fits car tyres.
Method is to remove the spray head you should then be left with a tube with a small diameter hole about 1/8th inch. The pedal cycle pump end that goes into the pump will just fit into the pipe and will cut its own thread if you go easy. Now pump up the pressure in the container and attach the pump tube to the adapter. The trigger on the spray unit allows you to regulate the amount of air you supply and gives some control when things go to fast.

Excellent idea, and one that could be taken to steam fairs without too much trouble.

Tom, that is sure a cool idea.
I don't have a fence sprayer, but I do have an insecticide version that sounds like the same thing...gallon plastic jug you fill part way with liquid and pump up with moveable handle, then spray for 5-10 minutes.
I can imagine one of those (so cheap I'd dedicate a new one) as being worthy of taking afield to run or demo an engine (without the liquid !!!)
Thanks for thinking outside the box!!

Excellent idea! I could do that for the steam show next year to run the electric Jensens!! I have a tank, but once its empty that would be it....
