Hello EveryoneHi everyone, I'm Alex, 16, and just got into this steam malarkey about a year ago after my Grandad gave me his Mamod fire engine. Since then I've got the fire engine cleaned up and run it regularly, and also I acquired a nice TE1a off ebay a couple of days ago. I'll try and get some pictures up later if anyone's interested, but for now anyway I'd just like to say hi to everyone

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone Got around to getting some pictures, had to be quick as the battery's kept running out, hence the lack of quality. I'll try and get some nice outdoor photos at the weekend with natural light, unfortunately I can't do it in the week as when I get back from school these days it' already dark.
Anyway, here's the TE1a, brought off eBay for £50 last week:
And the fire engine, which for some reason appears slightly more pink than red in these photo's. I assure you though it is bright red in person.

QuestionI do have one small question everyone; I'm looking to start saving for a Mamod stationary of some sort, a small one like a Minor or a SE1. How much should I expect to pay for one of these in a decent condition?

Thtas a really nice looking TE, no scuffs or nickes and the paint looks very deep and shiny.
Really nice example there!

Hmm, must of deleted them by accident, they weren't very good though, I'll try and get some better ones up. And about the TE, I ran it for the first time on meths today instead of tablets, and, wow, it was mad! On full speed it was shaking so much the whistle started to unscrew itself Can anyone answer this question I posted earlier though; | Pineapple11 wrote: | | I do have one small question everyone; I'm looking to start saving for a Mamod stationary of some sort, a small one like a Minor or a SE1. Also, without wishing to start a civil war, can someone give me a definitive answer as to whether deionized water is safe to use or not.

As we found out after a very hot discussion , every kind of pure water is ok as long as it keeps no lime scale building ions in it. Every kind of "pure" water´s ok.

- deionized water
- destilled water.
- water from condense driers
- cooked and filtered rainwater.
Any source of pure water I have forgotten to mention ???
