Hello from ChrisHello,
It seems we are having a bit of a go at all introducing ourselves so I thought I would give it a go. Just had a few glasses of wine and feeling rather laid back so excuse the typos.
I am 32, a civil engineer living in North Hampshire, and I work in Reading. I grew up in Chichester, and then went to university in Southampton where I met my future wife. The job market wasn't good when I finished my degree, so I stayed on at university and did a PhD, and did a bit of tutoring to earn extra money. During that time I married my now wife.
Our first child, Helena, was born 31st December 2006, so she is now 5 months old. I bought my first steam engine a new TE1a a few weeks afterwards (going though a crisis maybe and looking for a bit of an escape). I joined this forum just before buying the engine looking for some advice and found lots of good folk. Since then I have bought, all second hand, a SR1a, a couple of SL1s, SA1, DV1, Luton Bowman 203 and a few accessories.
My main hobby is photography, especially nature photography, which I have now been doing for a few years.
I don't consider myself a collector at all, purely someone who just enjoys running engines, especially mobiles.
There are some great people here. I have been and I am a member of several forums for cycling and photography, but this is the only forum I try and visit everyday.
Anyway....Hello!

A good intro Chris.
The TE1a does have a certain appeal.
