Hello from MNHello Mamod Forum,
I am not sure if I am doing this right, but I will give it a try. I have already met two members, John & Rog through email, but now I am going to say hi to everyone else.

So here is my family history of steam engines:
My grandpa received a Robert Fulton Line vertical engine when he was a kid in the 30's or 40's from his older brother along with an erecter set. The ereceter set has been destroyed long ago by my dad and uncle, but he alwayse kept the engine safe.
My dad, who remembered the engine as a kid, wanted one of his own. About ten years ago, he went to several antique shops in search of an engine. He finally found a Jensen #65 and bought it. I remember him burning sterno in it, and I was always fascinated by the engine. My brother and I were not allowed to touch it, but I remember rotating the flywheel by hand and being interested in how it worked.
A couple of years ago, after my great grandpa died on my mom's side, I helped my great grandma get ready for their auction. In their kitchen, I found a Jensen Steam engine box for a model #76 and it had the instructions. I gave the box to my dad figuring it was close enough of a match for his engine. Over a month later, in the back of their attic, I found the engine for it, inside a shoe box, in rust free condition, with boxes of esbit. I fired it up for my other grandpa, to show him how they worked. All it needed was new gaskets, so I made temporary one out of rubber inner tube.
This began my true facination with engines. In the past couple of years, I have bought several off ebay. I now have 14 engines and many workshop accessories. My collection includes: Jensen (75, 76, 60 (2)), Weeden (43), Marvindustries/Robert Fulton Line (3 Vert., 2 Horiz.), Flieschmann (2, not sure what model), a Mamod, and a Mamod on the way.
I am now doing my first restoration on a Jensen #60, and am going to post pics and hopefully a video throughout the restoration process.

Nick,
Good to see you checking in...your family history of steam engine collecting was a good read, if you are up to 14 pieces you are hooked for sure
Folks on this forum LOVE photos and videos of collections, restorations and just plain running for all to see. Most folks use a free photo/video hosting service called:
www.photobucket.com
It is pretty easy to navigate...one hosts the pics or video to Photobucket, then pastes them right into their messages here. It works very smoothly.
Well, nice to have another American in the forum...I'm a bit south and east of you in Indiana...rode my motorcycle from just south of Indianapolis to St. Paul 2 years ago to visit family...great adventure.
Our forum has folks from the UK, Australia (affectionately known as OZ on here), NZ, Canada, US, France, Germany, Austria and a few more places. Though called "mamodforums"...our engine representation crosses all lines of engines and we all enjoy seeing what the next guy or gal in the next country has.
Again, glad you could join us.

I will experiment with photobucket after work, and if it works, I will post some pics of the collection and start a new topic about my Jensen restoration. I won't be able to work on it too much with work and Christmas, especially this weekend, as we are going to get a snowstorm; I will be out shoveling all day and night.

G'day
You signed up, and de-lurked, and posted. I'd say you're off to a good start for doing it "right"
Mainly a Jensen dabbler myself these days, though I also like Mamod and Wilesco.
Actually, so far I've never met an engine that I've disliked
